BLITZER'S BLOG: Romney slams Obama on foreign policy

(CNN) – In delivering his first major foreign policy speech of the campaign, Republican candidate Mitt Romney really took off on President Obama’s record.

“I will not surrender America’s role in the world,” he said in a carefully-crafted speech at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, an early primary state. “This is very simple: If you do not want America to be the strongest nation on Earth, I am not your president. You have that president today.”

"If you do not want America to be the strongest nation on Earth, I am not your president. You have that president today.”

OBL and Ghadafi and a few others might disagree with you there, Mittens. It's funny too, because nothing could possibly lead to a weaker position than an overextended military trying to "build nations" with the help of contractors who consistently get found to be committing crimes in foreign countruies and committing fraud in their contracts and reimbursements from the US gov't...not to mention the budget damage and damage to our economy it does to spend such a ridiculous percentage of our GDP on militarism in the name of corporate imperialism. But hey, apparently Mittens thinks that's just dandy.

Romney's dishonesty is what works against him. He can make a case for something different but not to say that this president is making this country weak.

Back to his Obama attacks, is he? For a moment there, I thought Romney actually had a national defense plan ready to unveil. It's not as if 12 of the same warmongers who pushed GW into war aren't now advising Mitt. I hope Romney realizes he will eventually have to come up with something besides his "Obama blah, blah, blah" rants. Especially when it comes to defense. As usual, Mitt's a bit off his game.

“If you do not want America to be the strongest nation on Earth, I am not your president. You have that president today.” Mitt Romney doesn’t have any clue

Today America strongest nation in the world compare to 2001 to 2008
When Bill Clinton was president we had best foreign policy during that period they rest of the world loved us.
From 2002 to 2008 we were weak because of unwanted war Iraq. Many nations walked away from us due to our foreign policy
Under Obama administration we killed terrorist leaders we proved the world we won’t give up.

Isn't that statement rather treasonous? It's also very subjective. Some would say that President Obama has put the US in a stronger position by taking the current path, certainly heads and tails better than the previous administration. Romney is on a very slippery slope and he is not looking very presidential. Good thing this is NOT US Foreign Policy, as he is just a wanna be. Scare the world that the US is not afraid to go to war with any other nation, rather than the diplomacy that is being shown from the current leader! Warmongering may be the only way for Romney to advance his cause within the Party of NO. Well NO THANKS!

The party that did not win in the last election has been slamming Obama since then, every day. That woman has been instrumental.

Why are all people not pulling together to heal the country economically?

I thought you were the United States of America.

Obama's foreign policy has been 100% more successful than that of Bush or any other past Republican President. Countries actually respect and want to work with the USA now. They like Obama which was definitely not the case with Dubya. The GOP has no true respect of other countries or our own troops for that matter. Booing an American gay solider should have been harshly criticized but was not by Romney or the other Repub candidates. That brave gay soldier is doing something Mitt, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry and other Tea Baggers/GOP candidates has never done – put his life on the line to defend our freedoms and our way of life.

'If you don't want to America to be respected by the world community, I'm your president' says Mitt Romney.

"If you want America to spend billions needlessly in armed conflicts, I'm your president' says Mitt Romney

'If you want America to once again be hated by every country in the world, I'm your president' says Mitt Romney.

Do you conservatives really think that America's role in the world is weak? I wonder if it's partly due to the GOP cutting foreign aid as far as possible but wanting to ramp up defence spending. Yes, dont' lead with an olive branch and hope Mitt...stick to the GOP guns.

Just goes to show......Obama is not the only guy who can make a speech. He may the only guy who can blatantly lie to the public, and get away with it, but not the only guy who can make a speech.

Guarantee you, however, that CNN will continue to promote Obama and the Democrats........and socialism......and that CNN will continue to degrade the Republicans, because CNN is totally left wing biased.

Guess I am cut from different cloth. I have always earned my way in this world, from age 12, and I strongly believe it is every person's responsibility to support themselves, in whatever way is necessary. I have never been unemployed for more than a few weeks......because I was willing to take whatever work I could find, no matter what level of work was involved.

I see these drug fogged people in Wall Street, who have iPhones, and lots more, complaining..........because they don't have the ambition to get off their butts and actually do some work. I still don't even have a cell phone......because I couldn't afford that luxury!

I am not complaining, because I am not too shiftless to earn my way in the world, one way or another.

"Why are all people not pulling together to heal the country economically?"

HINT: There's a lot of people out there who don't want it healed because they thinkn it's their ticket to power and control and avoiding the effects of the shifting demographic face of the country.

  16. The Greedy Old Pigs have declared class war on US!

Mittens has been the neocons' prefered candidate right from the start. They are desperate to attack Iran and Romney will do that in his first year in office. Too bad that in the real world, Obama's foreign policy is far more successful than the neocons have ever been, and Mittens has zero foreign policy experience, What he does have is a panel of neocons pulling his strings. Pay attention to the men behind the curtain.

  17. The Greedy Old Pigs have lost their minds!

"He may the only guy who can blatantly lie to the public, and get away with it, but not the only guy who can make a speech."

Nice to see Rick McDaniel doesn't disappoint with his sheer idiocy today. Rick, if you honestly believe only one politician can get away with "blatantly lie to the public" then you are very young, very naive or very stupid. Are you 8?

(and just for laughs, tell us about Obama's "blatant lies" that no other politician gets away with)
