(CNN) - Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign raised over $800,000 in the third quarter and spent nearly $777,000, leaving the former Speaker of the House with $353,416 in cash-on-hand funds.
The GOP candidate’s financial report, filed Saturday with the Federal Election Commission, shows the Gingrich campaign owing $1,192,865 in outstanding debt.
Gingrich did not make any contributions of his own money to the campaign, according to the filing.
In a statement, Gingrich's campaign pointed out some bright spots in the fundraising report, including support coming from new donors.
In total, Gingrich has raised nearly $2.9 million in his bid for the 2012 GOP nomination, and has spent over $2.5 million.
The highest expenditures for Gingrich’s third-quarter campaigning were website development, salaries and telemarketing, according to the filing.
In the most recent CNN Poll of Polls, encompassing surveys taken October 3-10, 6% of Republican voters identified Gingrich as their choice for the presidential nominee.

The figures noted in this blog do not make much sense. it does appear that Mr. Gingrich has overspent and now has a deficit. He is a very savvy politician and yet he does not see that his candidacy is not getting the support he needs.
That ought to be enough for at least a few more private jet charters Newt. Amazing how all these candidates are carping about fiscal responsibility and they are all spending more that they have raised. One exception might be Mittens.
