Nevada eyes Feb. 4 caucus date

(CNN) - Nevada might move its caucus date when state Republican leaders meet Saturday, potentially ending a bitter showdown with New Hampshire that threatens to create chaos in the primary calendar.

The Nevada Republican Party's executive committee will consider moving the state caucus from the currently scheduled January 14 to February 4, a Saturday, two Republican sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

Biden, reporter face off over crime statistics

(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden had a tense exchange Wednesday with a reporter who questioned him about comments suggesting that if Republicans block a bill aimed at preserving police jobs, rapes and other crimes would increase.

"Do you regret using the rape reference to describe Senate opposition" to the bill, Jason Mattera asked Biden as he left a rally with police unions and others who have faced the budget ax in recent months.

Should the U.S. borrow less and tell China to donate more aid?

(CNN) - It was a single line in a Republican debate focused mostly on domestic issues, but former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's suggestion that the U.S. borrow less from China, pull back some on humanitarian aid and push China to give more instead got the attention of the audience in the hall.

The comment came during a heated discussion about spending cuts at Tuesday's night's presidential debate in Nevada sponsored by CNN and the Western Republican Leadership Conference.

Democrats: Don't discriminate against unemployed

Washington (CNNMoney) - A group of Senate Democrats sent a letter to a big job-hunting website this week, asking the company to quit running help-wanted ads from companies that bar the unemployed from applying for jobs.

Lawmakers said they've seen several examples of employers advertising jobs on CareerBuilder.com that say applicants "must be currently employed" to apply.

Cancer spurred Cain to go 'bigger and bolder'

(CNN) - Herman Cain took some hits in Tuesday's CNN Republican presidential debate, but so far the biggest opponent he has ever faced appears to be cancer – a battle he says he has won. In 2006, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO says, he was given a 30% chance of survival against his stage 4 colon cancer.

It started when Cain experienced discomfort in his lower belly, according to a letter written earlier this year by one of his physicians, Dr. Martin York of Peachtree Hematology-Oncology Consultants in Atlanta.

Axelrod on the GOP field: Romney vs. an un-Romney

Washington (CNN) - When asked about the shifting landscape in the GOP presidential race, President Barack Obama's senior campaign strategist David Axelrod attributed the back and forth to many Republican voters wanting to coalesce around a candidate that is unlike former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

"We've had Romney and an un-Romney in a variety of iterations throughout this campaign," Axelrod said Wednesday during an interview with CNN Chief National Correspondent John King.

CNN Poll: Mormon candidate not a problem for most Americans

(CNN) - Americans overwhelmingly say a presidential candidate being Mormon wouldn't affect their vote, according to a CNN/ORC International poll released Wednesday.

The survey, which was taken after a controversial pastor said Mormonism was a "cult" and that GOP voters should support a "competent Christian," also shows a majority of Americans believe Mormons are Christians.
