Council Bluffs, Iowa (CNN) – On Thursday, Mitt Romney said President Obama deserves some praise for Moammar Gadhafi's death.
At an appearance in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the Republican presidential candidate was asked about the Libyan leader who was killed as transitional government troops clashed with the ex-ruler's loyalists.
"Does President Obama deserve some credit for Gadhafi's death," a reporter asked the former Massachusetts governor.
"Yes. Yes. Absolutely," Romney responded.
The praise for the president goes further than Romney's reaction to the Libya situation at an earlier campaign stop in Sioux City, Iowa.
There, Romney did not talk about the U.S. role in Gadhafi's demise, instead only saying: "I think it's about time Gadhafi, a terrible tyrant that killed his own people and murdered Americans and others in the tragedy in Lockerbie."
Romney added, "The world is a better place with Gadhafi gone."

thank for a little reasoning
Of course he was giving any praises when the President first announced he was going into Libiya....and who is Romney to praise the President...the REPUBs are JOKES...this guys structures his campaign as the time changes anyway...one day he for something and just as soon as its unpopular he's against it!!!!
The United States was part of a bloc that helped to liberate Libya from Gadhafi's rule. The President worked with the group and showed that the USA can be part of group working for the good of a country's people. We do not have to be head honcho every time.
Shut up Romney! You are such a fake! You crictize the President like he is a feeble man but little than you know he has common sense solutions. You said on your rebate that Romeycare health insurance was good for the MA but if the health care was good for the MA and people in your state are enjoying it, what make you think that the same health insurance which President Obama has implemented will not be good for the masses. President Obama does not want to hear any credit coming from you fakey!
I m belived that nato and usa are wrong killed to him but why not ???? He would like bring to judge court that untied states need keep hearing to him about his judge court
What about syria north korean iran ??????????
i was watching a republican talking head on the news say Gadaffi got what he deserved after he used the countries oil whealth to live the kind of live he and family lived, instead of spending the money on hospitals and schools for lybias people. i had to check the internet to make sure she was really a republican
i needed to check outside to be sure that hell did not freeze over with this comment from romney. it hasn't. talk about a shock from a republican. liking something that this president did.
Bush are great that army was caught to sadam then he went to judge court
Judge court was finished hearing about him that he was happened about his terroist
Then he was returned to hang his death
That's mighty rightous of you Mitt but, it's going to cost you that dump called South Carolina.
Oops. Can't use foreign policy against the President in the general!
Well he's toast then
Hey, Romney... Thanks for giving credit to Mr. President Obama... Now, you can pack your bags and go home!
Romney there comes a time when the americans should come together when something like this happens acknowledge that the President is a leader and he should get a lot of credit.
We must remember this is not a game of politics this is serious business his ultimate goal is to make us safe and keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terroist.
Obama is finishing off all the terrorists of the world.
Mittens is a mere child when it comes to learning to be a true leader like President Obama. Don't worry Grasshopper, Obama will show you how you create coalitions and tremendous respect for the United States around the world.
Maybe with two adults in the room respectfully presenting and defending their ideas, values and philosophies, the Amercian public can make an intelligent decision about who ought to be elected President in 2012. The far right and the far left are making it impossible for quality leaders to serve. The one who strongly advocates campaign finance reform and sensible lobbyist reform will win and be solving the core problem in our democracy. Good for Mitt to be a gentleman.
Romney probably CHOKED on the words when he stated Obama deserved credit for his handling of this crisis WITH NO AMERICAN LIVES LOST. The GOP(Get Obama's Presidency) hate Wars when Americans DON'T DIE!
No matter what political party he represents, this man has class!
Well, thank you, Mr. Romney, for showing some class. And yes, I agree, the world is a better place with Gadhafi gone, absolutely, and I couldn't have said it any better myself.
Yet more proof that Romney is the only sane adult in the Republican field.
Of course, this will be yet another reason for the right wing to claim Romney is "soft on Obama" and therefore not worthy to be the GOP nominee.
See Republicans, it's ok to occasionally compliment your opponent. Dem here. Thank you Romney.
Our President could walk on water, change iron into gold, wipe out poverty, stop climate change, cure cancer, (and I wish, develop a bio-rocket light-tube-time transporter that would blast Palin and Bachmann back to the muddy-mud-skipper Devonian Era) and he still would not get a single positive nod from the GOP's. Well, as we can see, they are what they are, for Pete's sake....
At least Romney had enough respect for President Obama to give him "some" credit for the successful demise of this tyrant. I am a strong Obama supporter, and therefore will be voting for him in 2012. However, if I had to change parties for some unforeseen reason, I would vote for Mitt Romney. He is the only one in the bunch of candidates that has any common sense and some honest intelligence.
Mitt you just lost the GOPT support....your party has just pulled up the bus they are about to throw you under for giving President Obama and our military credit for anything....
