'Chaos' in Bachmann camp, former NH staff says

Concord, New Hampshire (CNN) - The former New Hampshire staff of Rep. Michele Bachmann - all five of whom resigned their posts last week - released a stinging statement Monday, accusing some of the congresswoman's national campaign staff of being "rude, unprofessional, dishonest, and at times cruel."

The open letter gives a lengthy and forceful critique of Bachmann's national staff, saying the team was not responsive to communications from New Hampshire, and had requested in September that New Hampshire staffers temporarily "go off payroll" then never clarified their employment status.

The statement also accuses the national team of being dogged by "chaos" and "shifting strategies" and treating the New Hampshire staffers as "second-class citizens."

"Sadly, they were deceived, constantly left out of the loop regarding key decisions, and relegated to second-class citizens within a campaign in which they were the original members," the statement said.

A former member of the staff confirmed the statement, released by the state account of "Team NH for Bachmann 2012," was crafted by the campaign's former New Hampshire staffers.

CNN attempted to contact members of Bachmann's national campaign for comment. There was no response to several emails, and the voice mailbox for Bachmann's press spokeswoman was full and not accepting messages.

The statement comes after media reports Friday that Bachmann's New Hampshire staff had quit - reports that were denied by Bachmann's national campaign manager Keith Nahigian.

"We have a great team in New Hampshire and we have not been notified that anyone is leaving the campaign," Nahigian said Friday.

Nahigian said Bachmann planned to return to New Hampshire to campaign, but acknowledged she would focus most of her energies on Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucus.

The statement by the former New Hampshire team said frustrations with the campaign had been building since June, but came to a head after Bachmann visited the state in early October. The letter does not divulge the reasons but calls them "serious" enough to prompt the state campaign manager Jeff Chidester to email his resignation to someone connected with the campaign.

The statement is careful to clarify the New Hampshire team still supports Rep. Bachmann.

"It saddens this team to see a dedicated patriot - a person so desperately needed in the White House - sequestered behind a wall of pretense, guarded by political operatives consumed by their own egos," the statement said.

Bachmann has been plagued by campaign staff upheaval both at her congressional office and on her campaign. Several key advisers left her campaign in early September.

But campaign staff hit back late Monday in a statement given to Politico.

"The unauthorized news release was sent by a person who doesn't even work for the campaign and has never had authority to speak on behalf of the campaign," said Bachmann campaign manager, Keith Nahigian. "We are not responding to comments made by a person who was not even a staff member in New Hampshire. Our focus is on Iowa."

If only that far away look in her eyes was a vision of how to save the country. But its not.

Big George in Big D – nothing for this country? As opposed to Bush, who nearly sunk it by lying us into a $3 Trillion war and then telling us to go shopping, while giving tax breaks to people who no more need tax breaks than I need swamp land in LA? Stopped a Bush/Clinton depression, saved the US car industry, saved the banks (though God knows why), ended the war Bush lied us into, got Bin Laden, helped take out Kadaffy, health care for over 30,000 Americans who didn't have it, allowing kids to stay on their parents' policies until age 26, and didn't ride into town with that my way or the highway attitude that repulsed the rest of the citizens of the world with whom we all have to live. Shall I go on? You can throw out all the GOP talking points Luntz can come up with, but neither I nor the rest of my fellow Americans are going to play ignorant anymore.

Rude, unprofessional, dishonest, and cruel. Really. They forgot about her 18th century brain. Fits right in with the rest of her GOP thugs.

Well, this is third time that I have read reports of mass staff defections from Michelle Bachmann's moribund campaingn. This latest report of staff exodus in NH is really confirmation that her campaign is finally beginning to unravel and will soon end. It is only a matter of time before Bachmann quits.

I'm more surprised with the fact that ANYONE would work for her in the first place.

Is anyone surprised that Bachmann's national campaign people would be rude, deceitful and cruel? They are merely reflecting the attributes of their candidate. However, I can't work up any sympathy for anyone so stupid as to have worked to elect this vile demagogue in the first place.

Where's Sarah Palin?? Bachmann is now BORING!!! LOL It's a shame that the "women" on the far-far-RIGHT seems to always climb to the top and then DROP!! That is because the RIGHT concentrates on BEUTY morea than BRAINS. This is the same reason why the "RIGHT-women" are NEVER in the camera when the men makes dumb statements to the media.

    Bachmann is done!!!

Frightening that the Repubs/TPs even consider her a candidate for POTUS. She is everything these comments say. Plus she is so stupid that she doesn't even know that Libya is in Africa. The Tea Party is so narrow and isolationist that they consider this ignorance a plus.

The campaign is a reflection of the candidate, good or bad. That is what happens when you ignore facts, say things that are distorted and bizarre, and sow the seeds of mistrust. This is not a candidate. She is a right wing novelty who has grown stale. Where is the relevance? Wisdom? Character?

Can't believe Bachmann has lasted this long. Who would send this ignorant extremist their money? She is not even qualified to be in Congress – hey Minnesota – get her out of Congress come 2012 – we need people with intelligence and who understands how our government works or even how it was formed. NO MORE REPUBLICANS in 2012. They have betrayed We the People over and over and over. Obstructed every single piece of liegislatin for job creation and even for teachers police, and firemen – saying it's not their problem! I guess nothing the American People need for recovery is not the problem of Republicans in Congress. ENOUGH of these TRAITORS. Vote ALL of them out of office in 2012.

If you have money, you can buy your own politician in America. People wrongly believe politicians work for them. NO!!! they work for the millionaires who buy them. The economic and political systems are COMPLETELY CORRUPT IN AMERICA!!!

Amen, Annie. I'm not saying he has been the most effective given the mess he was dropped into – but I would LOVE to see anyone explain how they could have done any better.

My God.......It makes me so sad for our great country that a completely unqualified, evil-spirited buffoon like this can even pretend to be running for President. As an Independent, she is someone that makes me run away from everything Republican; not that there aren't things to fix on the other side of he aisle as well-but nothing nearly as crazy as her.

She is so stuck on herself. I would never vote for her because she has to always be right, can stand confrontation, and probably cry like a baby if she didn't get her way. She is just a joke. where did she come from amyway? How did she ever get in the Republican race? Oh it must be her money. LOL

So much for the tea party being formidable. If Bachman was the post-Palin face of the new TP, then..... the toilet is pretty much what they deserved as a movement. This lady wants to run America, but can't even oversee a handful of FOLLOWERS in New Hampshire without running them off. I've seen better retention at schools for the homeless. Go Team Tea!

Funny she's a Christian. When God was giving out brains, she wasn't around. Now she invokes Him at the drop of a hat. Clearly a sad case.

Mudslinging has been going on since...well, a very long time. Also, jumping on the bandwagon by criticizing strong Christian women who DARE to be vocal is way yesterday. I have known MB for over 20 years and she is sincere, truthful, and, of course, makes verbal mistakes like every single public figure ever. Michelle, many, many voters love you and pray for your continued strength and wisdom, even in the face of betrayal.
