CNNMoney: Obama to offer help for students buried in debt
The White House announced on Tuesday two new measures the Department of Education will start offering in January to help college graduates climb out of their student loan debt hole. …Student loan debt, which is now outpacing credit card debt, is one of the problems called out at Occupy Wall Street demonstrations in New York.

CNN: Paul Ryan to slam Obama for 'politics of division'
As President Obama continues a swing out West on Wednesday to push his economic proposals, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan plans to launch a blistering response in a speech in Washington.

CNN: Obama talks politics, life with Leno
President Barack Obama addressed a broad range of political topics during an appearance on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Tuesday, insisting among other things that he's not spending too much time yet focused on next year's potential GOP campaign rivals.

CNNMoney: Perry's simple tax plan not so simple
Rick Perry has said he wants to scrap the tax code and make taxes simpler. That may be what he wants. But what he proposed on Tuesday is to keep the federal tax code intact and add an optional flat tax. Inherently that makes the tax code more complex, not less.

CNN: Occupy protesters arrested in two cities
Authorities made a series of arrests Tuesday at Occupy Wall Street protests in California and Atlanta. In the California city of Oakland, police said they sprayed protesters with tear gas after the crowd hit them with paint and other objects.

CNN: CDC committee recommends boys receive HPV vaccine
A federal government advisory committee voted Tuesday to recommend that males ages 11 to 21 be vaccinated against the human papilloma virus, which is blamed for thousands of cases of cancer among women and men.

New York Times: Push for ‘Personhood’ Amendment Represents New Tack in Abortion Fight
A constitutional amendment facing voters in Mississippi on Nov. 8, and similar initiatives brewing in half a dozen other states including Florida and Ohio, would declare a fertilized human egg to be a legal person, effectively branding abortion and some forms of birth control as murder.

CNN: Feds: Current, former NYPD officers among 12 charged in criminal conspiracy
Five active and three retired officers of the New York Police Department are among 12 people charged Tuesday with conspiring to transport and distribute firearms and stolen goods, according to federal authorities.

Floodwaters have forced the closure of Bangkok's Don Muang airport and the evacuation of flood victims who have taken refuge there, but the flood relief operation will continue to be based there, the Thai government said Wednesday.

CNN: Source: Former Goldman Sachs director to surrender

Former Goldman Sachs Director Rajat Gupta is expected to turn himself in to the FBI Wednesday morning to face federal charges, a source familiar with the case told CNN. The investigation against Gupta, who led McKinsey & Co., stems from the trial of hedge fund founder Raj Rajaratnam, the source said Tuesday.

CNNMoney: Netflix stock sinks 35% as subscribers flee
The Netflix nightmare continues. Shares plunged 35% on Tuesday after the video service revealed that it lost 800,000 subscribers in its difficult third quarter. …Analysts promptly downgraded the stock Tuesday morning, with one calling the report a "nuclear winter scenario."

CNNMoney: Amazon shares plunge on earnings miss
Amazon's third-quarter earnings sharply missed Wall Street estimates, sending shares 17% lower in after-hours trading on Tuesday. Amazon earned $63 million in the quarter that just ended, representing a 73% decline over the same quarter a year earlier.
