BLITZER'S BLOG: Increasing gloom as super committee deadline looms

(CNN) - It was sort of lost in the headlines but Democratic members of the so-called super committee proposed some major changes in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid spending – something Democrats in general strongly oppose.

As part of their effort to revive the failed Barack Obama-John Boehner budget negotiations of earlier in the year, the super committee Democrats put forward a $3 trillion package in deficit reduction over the next ten years.

  1. Democrat Party - leftist "progressive" socialist communist losers hellbent on destroying the USA

That would be necessary to mollify the Democratic base which opposes tinkering with entitlement spending for seniors, the poor and the middle class.

Not surprised. The Democrat Party should be renamed the Entitlement Party. The party of steal and redistribute. The party of government dependence.

California resident, Florida representative Connie Mack, has already promised that he will vote to shut down government. So, as hard as democrats try, they cannot fix the stupid in the GOP.

Every one know that the limp wristed leaders of the republican party are hell bent on creating another great depression. They almost had their wish under Bush, but President Obama stopped their foolishness.

The republican party should be renamed, "The elitist aristocracy party that only cares about billionaires, big oil, big banks, and big deficits."

The republicans set this up – they aren't going to let anything out of the committee. Regardless of common sense all they want is to cut spending and taxes. So this fits their strategy. The only thing the American People need to understand at election time is that for the last 30 (starting with reagan – oh yes I did) the republicans have been cutting revenues and increasing spending. Dirksen has been spinning in his grave

If you pay for something your entire life, is it an 'entitlement?'

Smart strategy by the [D]s. It was never going to pass anyway. The last thing that [R]s want to pass is ANY piece of legislation that will put America and the American people on the move again towards economic progress. They'd rather win the 2012 election and keep the American economy in ashes, and sell any idiots who'll buy it the false premise that the bad economy and large debt is entirely Obama's fault....all while real Americans suffer economically everyday.

Let it be recorded that it was ONLY the [D]s who put workable solutions on the table, and at every turn were rejected without comprimise by the Teahadists. If outside terrorists had inflicted anywhere near the amount of damage on America that [R]s have in the past few years, we'd now be paying the debt on the cruise missles that had been used to eradicate the malignancy.

You didn't really expect this to work, did you?????

When the welfare party decided to become a dictatorship in America, they had to be opposed. That's where we are, until the welfare party stops being dictators.

It,s all Gop Obstructionism, and hatred of the poor and middleclass!! Gop should be preparing themselves for a "Huge Defeat in 2012. Gop is a party lead by tyranny of the Koch Brothers,Big Banks, and the Super Rich!! If the republican voters and bloggers make less than 500,000 a year, and vote Gop, "They need an "Award winning Brain Specialist to examine this "Cult of Morons". OMG???

Wire Palladin, S. F.: I agree with your take. In fact, my biggest gripe with the [D]s now is that they have tried for far too long to fix the stupid in the GOP. It is un-fixable; it is unbendable; it is uncurable. These people WANT to be stupid.

Proof? Just read the leavings of the terminally slack-jawed "Democrat Party – leftist "progressive" socialist ..." Now who really thinks that that kind of desparate, proud and purposeful stupidity can be fixed?

Democratic leader Barack Obama and republican leader John Boehner couldn’t reach any deal so I don’t think super committee will reach deal.

We need a third party we couldn’t take more two party system complete failure

Still “Home for Sale” sign are popping up in my neighborhood. Middle class is disappearing.
2010 we changed our US representative (after 10years) but they gave the leadership to John Boehner. Only one thing he good at crying

I guess the GOP feels that life for the top 1% should be with no strings, no obligations, but they certainly want the best schools for their kids, the roads and bridges maintained, great facilities for their families, etc. I've got news for them: you can't run up everything on a charge card while cutting off revenue in the hope that eventually everything will be hunky-dory. Cheap things are seldom good and good things are seldom cheap. We have a debt, we pay it off by getting every cent we possibly can get in, and by cutting out things we don't need, like tax cuts that only serve to blow the debt up even further.

  16. The Greedy Old Pigs have declared class war on US!

"When the welfare party decided to become a dictatorship in America, they had to be opposed. That's where we are, until the welfare party stops being dictators."

Wow, Rick, you may finally be returning to your senses. Assuming, that is, you are correctly referring to the GOBP deathcult as the corporate welfare party.

Regardless, the GOBP deathcult has abandoned America with its unpatriotic "we care only for the greedy and not the needy" stance. Let all Americans reflect on this stunning fact: When America most needed its political leaders from both sides of the aisle, the Dems answered the bell and the GOBP declined to answer that same bell. What a sorry bunch of pigs.

I prefer the name the "Enlightenment Party". A name that represents the philosophy and progressive thinking that was embraced by this country's founders. A philosophy that believes in science. An ideology that believes in seperatation of church and state. An ideology that believes in *social* independence and abhored the greed and plutocratic goals of today's conservatives.

I'm sorry Rick McDaniel. Did you say something? Pretend for a moment that you are not talking to your fellow ditto-heads, take a moment, breath deep, and try to type something that makes a bit of sense. You know....something based on REALITY!

But thank you for chiming in, and being a prime example of what Wire Palladin, S. F. and I were talking about. Let's see if you can be 'fixed'......

You call paying most of the federal income taxes while nearly 50% of American pay NONE "no strings"???

No strings is when you get to live in the greatest country on the planet AND PAY NOTHING FOR IT, as nearly 50% do in this country.

The Democrats, using the tax code, have built the greatest class warfare machinery of all time. The tax code has been perverted from its original intent of funding the government to a socialist agenda of wealth redistribution. Their whole party platform is based on "vote for us and we'll steal from those evil rich people and GIVE it to you". All you have to do is vote for us and you're home free, all costs paid for.

Can't be defended with facts, which is why you don't include any. Go ahead, giv us the superficial "but but but unemployment is 9%!!!!" nonsense so we can bury you with CBO studies, expert opinions, and data collected over the past 3 years about the Stimulus package and various other measures taken to stabilize the economy, stop it from receding and get it started again.

We have an aging population that has already paid into the system. The poor pay consumption taxes already, so that's a big proportion of your argument gone right there. There has always been a percentage of people that have not paid income taxes because to do so would drive them further into poverty. The top 1% have gotten richer because the tax system has been gamed to ghelp them, NOT the poor. Their tax rates are half of what they were 30 years ago, which happens to coicide with the decline of the middle class and the stagnation of their purchasing power. We have been following the conservative economic model for 3 decades: don't be all upset because its blown up in our faces and you're blaming the poor? How can it be stealing when their taxes are half of what they were 30 years ago, and the deductions the rich take advatage of have ballooned proprotionately? This is not stealing from teh rich, its restoring the balance we had before we had conservative math operating in the budget offices, where suddenly debt did not matter. Its the fault of your people, not some sinister plan to steal from the unsuspecting, innocent wealthy. You live a rich fantasy life, based on your comments.

HA! You are the MASTER of "can't be defended by facts"!! Such as "stabilize the economy, stop it from receding and get it started again". All of this has happened in the past WITHOUT TRILLIONS in borrowed government spending. Now you claim it happened because of government spending when history shows it is part of the natural cycle. Obama, and you , are nothing but snake oil salesmen using the recession fo rfurther a leftist/"progrssive"/socialist/communist political agenda.
