They don't support it because we're not in it to WIN IT. Odumbo sends over more troops (fewer than the military asked for) and announces at the very same time WHEN THEY WILL LEAVE! I'm sure the Taliban were very happy with that disclosure. Our military must have loved it too, NOT.

Obama is a complete and total joke when it comes to Afghanistan. He's mucked it up so badly, he's got the Afghan President saying he'd side with Pakistan and not the USA in a conflict.

Please. Define winning it. We have pretty much accomplished every *military* objective we had going in. Now the problems are more economic and political. Issues that are best handled by people wearing suits, not uniforms.

What's actually wrong with announcing a withdrawal date anyway? Even if you do not announce a date, your enemy is going to see what you are doing anyway. Which would embolden them to even more to grab territory as you withdraw. Announcing a date would give them pause, and look for traps.

(You are on the wrong page. Congressional Republicans want out of Afghnistan.)

Democrat Party – leftist "progressive" socialist communist losers hellbent on destroying the USA – Oh, I am sooooo tired of your rhetoric. You have nothing new to add. Face it, you're a Bush apologist trying to fool people into thinking somehow the situation in Afganistan is all Obama's fault. As I recall, this war has been going on since 2003... Was Obama president then? Who was? Let's face facts. You will NEVER win a foreign policy argument with this president. NEVER. But you sure can waste your time with it if you like... Feel free.

Afghanistan can defend itself and not be overun again by terrorist harboring Taliban.

Issues that are best handled by people wearing suits, not uniforms.

Yes, because we all know the Taliban will simply lay down their weaponry and speak with people in suits. Egads, how absurd.

You can't seriously believe this drivel! Can you name ANY other war where this was done and which was won??? Of course you can't. It was done in Vietnam and we all know how that turned out. Bottom line is Odumbo has turned Afghanistan into another Vietnam.

    Iraq.

Obviously, you do not understand the true nature of the region, economically and politically. You seem to view everything through the perspective of a gun sight. Politically, the government of Afghanistan is becoming more and more of an unreliable partner, not to mention the uncertainty in Pakistan's evolving stance.

Economically, did you know that it is estimated that there could be upwards of one trillion dollars worth of minerals and precious metals in the mountainous regions. In fact, China is there already mining copper by the bucket loads in the northwest regions of the country. Did you know that they have been doing it since the minerals were discovered in 2007?

    Iraq
    ===

Iraq was only a success because of George Bush. Democrats wanted to cut and run out of their just like they want to do in Afghanistan today. And the situation in Iraq is exactly what I stated, a stable country able to defend itself. Thank you for making my argument!

"Defend itself". Still looking at everything trough those gun sights, I see. Thanks for proving my point.

Stop rewriting history. The Bush administration totally mishandled the Iraq War. After the fall of Baghdad, the Bush administration began a *withdrawal* declaring "mission accomplished.' Congressional Democrats howled that he should have been increasing troops to secure the country until a new, stable government was established. Bush withdrew, and civil war followed.

By 2004, Democrats were calling for withdrawl as troops were being slaughtered by IEDs, while Republicans came up with the idea of a "Surge." The Republicans showed their hand to the enemy by telling him ahead of time when, where, and how many troops to expect. The US military fought to take back a country that they never should have initially withdrawn from. The Iraq War was settled with cash bribes more than it was settled through military action. Remember, that $6B in cash that was sent there on pallets, which was reported lost?

Oh, yeah. Please, stop flip-flopping. Last week when the final withdrawal of combat troops was announced you were howling about how Iran was going to come in and overrun the country. So, please, stop the flip-flopping. You're worse than Mitt. At least he tries to be discrete about it, and actually pretends that listeners remember his past words. You don't even seem to remember yours.

I guess you haven't noticed the Taliban attacking and killing Afghans. Blowing up people that come to negotiate with them? Yes, unarmed men in suits is the answer according to you. With that kind of screwed up thinking, you could get a job with the Obama adminstration. They are always looking for a few good failures.

As for your total rewrite of the Iraq war, you really are becoming quite the comedian! Democrats howling to increase troops??? BWAHAHAHA!!! That's a good one! You have a great future on the comedy circuit.

The truth is that congressional Democrats, and a few Republicans like Sen. McCain, questioned the wisdom of beginning an immediate withdrawal from Baghdad within 48 hours of toppling the government. You seem to forget that troops were on their way out, headed for the borders when Bush declared "mission accomplished."

Critics pointed out the most basic lesson in warfare. The first rule is to secure captured territory, instead of abandoning it. Check your facts. Bush had cut Iraqi ground forces in half once Baghdad fell. By 2006. not 2004, Democrats had begun the call to end the war and get out of their civil war.

As for Afghanistan, the government is too corrupt to work with. We really do not know who is behind every individual attack on civilians. The only sure thing is that we can stay there another decade and the situation will not change much. One generation has grown up under American occupation, we raise another generation under American occupation.

If the Afghans do not wish to change, we are wasting American lives trying to impose change upon them. They have chosen their own government, I say let them live with it and attack where necessary with drones. We cannot afford $2B per week. Like I said, that is the message that comes from the congressional Republcans, pal. I happen to agree with it.
