BLITZER’S BLOG: The year of the debate

(CNN) – It’s been pretty amazing how significant the Republican presidential debates have proven to be this year. They have clearly shaped attitudes in rather dramatic ways.

Presidential historians may write one day that this was the year of the debate.

I wouldn't call what these candidates are doing debating. It's more of a bash Obama and eliminate taxes spectacle.

The best debating is still to come. Crunch time is quickly closing in. Perry's failure last night was more a result of pressure to improve than any mental shortcoming. Don't expect anymore collapses, but you can never tell with this field which way the wind will blow next. Wouldn't it be strange if the momentum got behind Gingrich all the way to and through the nomination? It would almost be like 2008 all over again.

He's a flash in the pan - being used by republicans to prove they aren't racist. Those Koch brothers are not stupid. They know he will never be elected.

These aren't debates, they're a circus act run by clowns. As I said on Jack's blog yesterday, Palin destroyed the bar on how low they can go, and these guys are just trying to out-low each other. I base this on the fact that Jon Huntsman, who appears to be a decent human being, is getting no traction whatsoever. Tells me all I need to know about where the GOP is these days, and it's not a good place. It's sad, really.

GI Joe – I love your posts, by the way. This time, however, I have to disagree with you. In this toxic and crazy political climate, anything goes. And that means Cain has a chance. Though I agree with you that the Koch brothers aren't stupid, they can also read the winds, and they're blowing crazy these days.

HAHAHA...yeah, maybe they will...but with derision and a lengthy explanation of what a complete tapdancing verbal vomit mouthfarting farce they were.

Rick Perry may be bad debater but he will be good president It’s sad to see when media saying “Bad debater can’t be good president”
Last night debate moderator asked very good questions 8 candidates in the stage didn’t give direct answer and all question they gave same answer that mean they don’t have clear plan to fix the our economy

I hope November 22nd candidates will give specific answer
