Perry's 'Oops' video tops YouTube

(CNN) - It's been dubbed the "'Oops' heard around the world," and now there's YouTube evidence to back that up.

According to the video share site, the 53-second clip of Perry's stumble during Wednesday night's Republican presidential debate was the top-rising search that night and was the most-viewed YouTube video in the U.S.on Thursday morning.

During the debate sponsored by CNBC, Perry said he would eliminate three federal agencies if elected president - but he was able to name only two.

That produced a painful period of more than 50 seconds during which the Texas governor tried in vain to remember the third federal agency that he would eliminate. It ended only after Perry conceded that he could not remember it - even after appearing to consult his notes.

"Oops," he said.

The clip was most popular in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the important first-in-the-nation caucus state.

It was also the No. 2 "most-shared" clip in the U.S.

Combine this with his thought that "prayer can help fix America's problems" and we have a complete mouth-breather on our hands. People, i really don't care what political persuasion you are, but pa-leaaaaase, can we stop electing morons as president! man alive america.

It doesn't matter, once he's elected his corporate handlers will tell him what to do just like Dubya. Did the Iraq war make any sense?. Not for America but for Haliburton( Dick Cheney). It gave Dubya a chance to show up his dad George Sr.

Do not overlook the fact that Perry and the other 'candidates' represent the best the GOP has to offer....the best.

Rick Perry was done weeks ago. Now he's REALLY done. He won't last beyond the second GOP primary.

I'd still vote for him. He's only human after all, everyone makes mistakes, and I agree with downsizing the government.

How many of you want to see a President have a brain freeze in a pressured moment and that moment is when the red phone rings at 3 am? What, no hands!

I'm no fan, but as someone who also isn't a very good public speaker, I have to have a bit of sympathy for him. Not everyone has the gift of the gab, but that isn't necessarily any reflection on how good they are at their jobs. It's his policies that are the problem, not his public speaking skills.

Have any of you spoken publically? If you have not, then I'd be careful to judge. I'm no republican. I find many idologies common to republicans, to be hypocritical, but to be sure it takes uncommon bravery to speak to a room filled with people. Public speaking is rated one of the hardest things to do. It takes courage to stand in front of a group, and talk. While being no fan of any of the (so called), republican candidates, I'm mindful of the intestinal fortitude needed to attend debates, and partake in public speaking.

It's not what he forgot that's important. His plan to abolish Commerce, Education, and Energy is absurd. Commerce contains NOAA, which warns us of hurricanes, tornadoes, and other weather calamities. The other two departments are equally as important. The man is an idiot.

I remember how the Teapublicans BEGGED Rick Perry to run for the presidency and at first he led the pack of clowns with a 35% ....... after they listened to him speak in the first debate his numbers started to drop. Now Perry is just another Teapublican joke.

This has NOTHING to do with "not being a good public speaker" campaigns hire people to coach candidates!! This IS about the FACT that Rick Perry does not have the SMARTS to be president!

squigman, yes, I have spoken publically and it's not easy. However, if you are going for one of the most powerful positions of leadership on the planet, you damn well better be a great public speaker. That being said, we did have dubya who was quite pathetic as a public speaker...sigh. The repub candidates should be in a circus tent when they debate as it's a total freak show. But I have to admit it is hysterically funny and entertaining to listen to them spout off their talking points, but it's also quite terrifying if these are the BEST candidates that the GOP can come up. Pretty sad.
