Bachmann: Protesters were 'ignorant' and 'disrespectful'

Columbia, South Carolina (CNN) - Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann on Friday described protesters who interrupted her foreign policy speech aboard the USS Yorktown the day before as "ignorant" and "disrespectful."

"They haven't been told what was done for them and that's what's a shame. And I think that as soon as they would know, if they understood the heavy price that was paid for that First Amendment right, they'd be much more respectful," Bachmann said while shaking hands at a Veterans Day parade in Columbia, South Carolina.

On Thursday, about a dozen protesters caused a stir when they stood up and delivered a coordinated message through a tactic known as a "human microphone," where one person yells out a message and the rest of the group repeats it collectively. A group called Occupy Charleston claimed on its website that it has staged the interruption.

"Blaming people that disagree with you, unpatriotic socialists… this does not help the American people," the group shouted.

The disturbance drowned out the Minnesota congresswoman's remarks, and she briefly left the stage until it was over. When she returned, she praised the group's right to protest.

"Don't you just love the First Amendment? It's great, we have a great country and I want to thank you all for your understanding," she said.

But at the parade on Friday, after a woman unrelated to the group apologized for what happened at the speech, Bachmann talked about the incident with a harsher tone than the one she took the previous day

"I was surrounded by heroes yesterday on the USS Yorktown who paid a big price for them, and they're just ignorant of that," Bachmann responded. "That's all. They're ignorant and they were disrespectful, but you know someday hopefully they'll come to know the price that was applied."

Excercising their first amendment rights show that these protestors know exactly how precious that right is. Shame on Bachmann for criticizing them for exercising their rights as Americans. If she were a real leader, she would ask to speak with them directly and hear their concerns.

…as "ignorant" and "disrespectful." Oh dear, Michelle, when compared with what you say and accuse others off doing (especially your rands against our President) I would say the “protesters” where quite courteous toward you. Let your speeches be prove-read and you will find that the blue ribbon for the most ignorant and disrespectful of all goes to you!

Trying to divide this country by questioning and measuring everyone's patriotism is in Michelle's DNA. She also does it with with religion. Her daily anti American hate speech against the President is nothing short of treason. She speaks for a small group of hateful, predominately white folks all calling themselves Christians.

No soldier since WWII can claim that they defended the first Amendment. All our wars since then have been wars of aggression.

Bachmann, Cain, Perry, are all a sideshow for the benefit and entertainment of American Public. There is only one Republican that has 1/2 a chance at the nomination and this side show is just a ploy so that the No-No Do Nothing Republicans in Congress can continue and not keep antics and destructive actions off the front pages. I haven't much about jobs, jobs, jobs lately, have you?

A few of those "ignorant and disrespectful" people were probably veterans, missy michelle. YOU disrespect them ever time you use the 1st Amendment as your right to spread fear and hatred.

If anyone is ignorant,'s you Ms. Bachmann,.. ignorant of the facts,.. ignorant in the way you never answer a question asked of you, and your total behavior is disrespectful of those that disagree with you,.. you are a sour, and caustic persona, lacking any compassion and tolerance.

Much like her equally brain dead twin, Sarah Palin – Michelle Bachmann is a coward who throws out the victim card if/when she is ever asked to account for her own lies and hate speech. In 4 years, the Republican Party of Genocide of Policy (GOP) could only come up with Bachmann, Perry, Cain and Co.?

Pathetic, even for a member of the Liars and Mass Murderers who make up the red side of the aisle.

Who does she think she is? She has been rude and disrespectful to the President of the United States for years, and now she is showing utter contempt for thinking American people. She is a national embarrassment and doesn't understand how crazy and divisive her brand of politics is. Even the tea party tried to show her the door about a month ago, but she didn't understand everyone is just plain tired of her.

Takes one to know one. Hurts doesn't it, Michelle. Look forward to more. We're all done with you and you have nothing more that anyone wants to hear. Go muck a stall or something, please. The job you got elected for has turned into a giant waste of tax payer money since you've spent 90% of your time going on a POTUS bashing tour. I'm sure that's ok w/ you, though. You didn't expect to get to the white house anyway. This is a way of making a living folks. Going on tour spouting whatever viitriolic crap you can as long as folks will pay you to do it. It's political self marketing funded by super pacs that don't have to be accounted for. Legal fraud. Cain does it, Michelle does it, Palin, Santorum, Gingrich, Perry. etc. This is why the GOP is such a clown show this time, no one is actually serious. What youi do is get people to spend tons of money on you and if you don't get in, oh well, Fox or someone will hire you and you can have someone write books for you. Money in the bank on the backs of desparate people. They're like millionaire megachurch preachers preying on the gullible.

Disrespectful of the servicemen? No, Ms. Bachmann. The protestors were protesting against you and your divisive message–not those personnel who've fought for everyone's freedoms including the protestors' right of free speech. At 3% in the polls she still doesn't get the message but just keeps on arrogantly inflicting herself on the electorate. She obviously doesn't know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em.

Gee, it is amazing how short her memory is. Recall how Rep. Bachmann referred to the Tea Party gate crashers showed up at town hall meeting being conducted by Democratic House members as "patriots." Still don't remember, do you? The Tea Party activists were showing up making a lot of noise over health care reform and financial reform. Do you remember now?

My message to Rep. Bachmann is to stop being hypocritical of people expressing their freedom of speech. If you want to call the protestors who engaged who disrespectful, then you call a whole lot of Tea Party activists disrespectful, instead of calling them patriots.

Since the opposition can't field a candidate, it appears to be another four years. I guess I'll vote for him just to irritate the congressional conservatives, because there doesn't appear to be a viable opponent. Four more years of deadlock.

If the protesters were wearing three cornered hats with tea-bags and holding up signs of the President with a bone through his nose, and screaming about government overthrow, they're "concerned American citizens".

If the protesters disagree with your talking points, they're "ignorant and disrespectful".
