Columbia, South Carolina (CNN) – Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann on Friday described protesters who interrupted her foreign policy speech aboard the USS Yorktown the day before as "ignorant" and "disrespectful."
"They haven't been told what was done for them and that's what's a shame. And I think that as soon as they would know, if they understood the heavy price that was paid for that First Amendment right, they'd be much more respectful," Bachmann said while shaking hands at a Veterans Day parade in Columbia, South Carolina.
On Thursday, about a dozen protesters caused a stir when they stood up and delivered a coordinated message through a tactic known as a "human microphone," where one person yells out a message and the rest of the group repeats it collectively. A group called Occupy Charleston claimed on its website that it has staged the interruption.
"Blaming people that disagree with you, unpatriotic socialists… this does not help the American people," the group shouted.
The disturbance drowned out the Minnesota congresswoman's remarks, and she briefly left the stage until it was over. When she returned, she praised the group's right to protest.
"Don't you just love the First Amendment? It's great, we have a great country and I want to thank you all for your understanding," she said.
But at the parade on Friday, after a woman unrelated to the group apologized for what happened at the speech, Bachmann talked about the incident with a harsher tone than the one she took the previous day
"I was surrounded by heroes yesterday on the USS Yorktown who paid a big price for them, and they're just ignorant of that," Bachmann responded. "That's all. They're ignorant and they were disrespectful, but you know someday hopefully they'll come to know the price that was applied."

Protesters 'occupy' Bachmann foreign policy speech

Man, there is going to be a bit of a humor vacuum when dear Shelly exits the race in a few weeks.
It's good to see a political article covering someone other than Spermin' Herman Cain.
"Ignorant" and "disrespectful" are two adjectives that come to mind over just about anything that comes out of Ms. Bachmann's mouth.
If the lovely but oh so stupid michele bachmann calls you ignorant, you've got to be really ignorant.
She is a hypocritical moron. Why don't she say anything about all the teabaggers who interrupt Dem Congressmen town hall meetings. I'm glad she will NEVER be president.
Bachmann needs to realize that these protesters are just showing "choot spa" in exercising their free speech.
Has Palin filed that lawsuit against her former neighbor/author yet?
Bachmann is so ignorant, so stupid – she shows total disrespect to the office she holds yet knows nothing about, to the People she is supposed to be serving but has betrayed, and to the rest of America for being such a no-values, no-morality, no humanity embarrassment. Send her home and never let anyone this stupid and callous near any office again.
So, is she sayinmg it is disrespectful to use your rights in front of those who have protected those rights?
That is about the worst attempt at spinning something that I have ever seen!
Pot...meet kettle
Only think is, she is naturally that way and those kids where doing it to make a point.
Here's the part that 'ol Bachmann continues to forget about the 1st Amendment.... 'The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion....'
Doesn't suit your mouth lady. Looks like Mark is not satisfying your desires. You spill your leftover desire through your speech from your mouth.
The darling of the Tea Party, need I say more... If you check the facts on almost everything she says you will find she may be the dumbest person alive, or the biggest liar ever in a campaign.
To bad there wasn't a sniper there.
Bachmann's about to fall off her lofty perch & she knows it, lol At least we keep most all the 'idiots' sequestered in DC, LOL
Bachman, Perry and Cain = Curly, Larry and Mo.
You insist on seeking an orgasm in public Michele... What a shame. You could have been a viable alternative. Keep playing silly games with yourself
Bachmann looked utterly shocked and perlexed at the protest...where were her tea partiers now? In reality, the Tea Party movement was usurped and corrupted by the Koch-fueled uber-right. The occupy protests now stand for more of what those initially drawn to the Tea Party movement truly want, and Bachmann's 15 minutes are officially over.
There's an old Chinese proverb that says, "There are no secrets of the soul that conduct does not reveal." The conduct of the protestors was disrespectful, rude and will lead to failure if they continue to act this way.
Hey, Michele, don't hide behind false patriotism. The protesters were not disrespecting the troops. They were disrespecting YOU and rightfully so.
Get a life, Michelle. They're not here to serve you. Your here to serve them, not corporations. Though they did serve you notice well. Buh bye.
Wonder what her take is on the buffoon who screamed out liar in the house at Obama? Speaking his mind? That is about as rude and disrespectful as one person can ever be. Shows lack of respect and decorum to the office of the president, and to Obama as a person. Always a different set of rules to teh right than the left. If a democrat shouted out liar to Bush not only would he or she been correct in doing so, but the right would of strung them up and tarred and feathered that person. Let alone we would still be getting sound bites on fox. Suck it up Michelle, people do not like your message , nor do they trust you. Go pray the gay out elsewhere, I understand Iran has the cure.
Bachmann is the first politian I've ever seen who runs away from hecklers. Coward! Put on your manpants and grow a pair, Michelle.
Holy mother of god I'm scared for this country. I agree with Mrs. Bachmann. Most youth in this country have absolutly no idea of the magnitude of the price that was paid so those protesters and many posting here do have their first amendment right. Men stood shoulder to shoulder and DIED so you could have that right. Would you OWS protesters DIE to protect that same right? I can't answer that question as I know not what lives in all peoples hearts, but I can say that having served that I DO UNDERSTAND THE HEART OF THE AMERICAN SOLDIER. I do understand why they will sacrifice THEIR OWN LIFE to protect the rights of those that have and would spit on them. Shame on you.
I do not agree with shouting down someone when they are making a speech. However, Michelle might do well to remember that this sort of behaviour was well encouraged by her and the rest of the tea party candidates during the townhall meetings about the healthcare. If this kind of behaviour is now happening, Michelle and her tea coherts can take credit for it.
Unfortunately, for some of these people, its amnesia time when they are on the recieving end.
