Columbia, South Carolina (CNN) – Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann on Friday described protesters who interrupted her foreign policy speech aboard the USS Yorktown the day before as "ignorant" and "disrespectful."
"They haven't been told what was done for them and that's what's a shame. And I think that as soon as they would know, if they understood the heavy price that was paid for that First Amendment right, they'd be much more respectful," Bachmann said while shaking hands at a Veterans Day parade in Columbia, South Carolina.
On Thursday, about a dozen protesters caused a stir when they stood up and delivered a coordinated message through a tactic known as a "human microphone," where one person yells out a message and the rest of the group repeats it collectively. A group called Occupy Charleston claimed on its website that it has staged the interruption.
"Blaming people that disagree with you, unpatriotic socialists… this does not help the American people," the group shouted.
The disturbance drowned out the Minnesota congresswoman's remarks, and she briefly left the stage until it was over. When she returned, she praised the group's right to protest.
"Don't you just love the First Amendment? It's great, we have a great country and I want to thank you all for your understanding," she said.
But at the parade on Friday, after a woman unrelated to the group apologized for what happened at the speech, Bachmann talked about the incident with a harsher tone than the one she took the previous day
"I was surrounded by heroes yesterday on the USS Yorktown who paid a big price for them, and they're just ignorant of that," Bachmann responded. "That's all. They're ignorant and they were disrespectful, but you know someday hopefully they'll come to know the price that was applied."

It seems everyone on here has already commented with what I would say. Clearly, Michele is not a capable leader. But she'll stick around for a long time in the GOP race because she loves the spotlight. Even the GOP knows she's not fit to lead the country.
Actually those are the exact words I would use to describe bobble head Bachmann
"ignorant and disrespectful"
So says the Queen of Low Information Voters.
Here is an idea. Lets put her in a room with Herman Cain, lock the door, and come back in 24 hours. See if she wants to ammend her definition of disrespectful.
It seems that the definition today of "patriot" depends upon your political perspective, doesn't it. So, to Bachmann, these people must seem "ignorant" or worse. To those with a different political orientation, she must seem "ignorant" or worse. And, the result is, Bachmann wraps herself in the sacrifice that the military has made, and somehow that put the right on her side. You've got to be kidding, that's the usual political ploy. If I say it first, then you must be wrong. So, this is the best we can do with presdiential candidates? I fear greatly for the country should she become president.
Well, clearly she doesn't look in the mirror often. She's ignorant and disrespectful most everytime I see her.
I loathe Bachmann. But I loathe these protesting oafs a thousand times more, because rather than engage in discourse they are attempting to shut it down completely. I can't think of a behavior more fundamentally un-American than preventing someone from speaking. In our society, we are expected to answer speech we disagree with using reasoned discussion. To simply drown out a speaker is odious, childish and intolerant in the extreme.
The pot seems to be having words with the kettle. She is a fool with larger ambition than ability.
Ms Bachmann, you are the last person that should call anybody ignorant or disrepectful. You have been doing this to President O even before your campaign began!! I believe people have just given you a pass!! Better watch, people are going to start calling you out on your craziness!! Believe me, there is no time like the present!!!!!!

Its amazing that Conservatives can construe an exercise in free speech as being disrespectful to veterans, when its the person who chooses to use that backdrop to promote herself who is disrespectful and ignorant. National monuments were meant to be enjoyed and appreciated by everyone, not just the people who attempt to hijack those symbols as their own to score cheap political points.

it was ignorant and disrespectful for Bachmann to have the audacity to try to deliver a foreign policy speech! why is she still wasting ignorant people's money!?
SixDegrees, would you have loathed her as much as the protesters when her TP brethran did the same thing on a far more massive scale, and carried loaded weepons into national parks? She claims to be a force in TP movement, so what are your thoughts? What they did to her was tame.

Oh yes we know the price they paid, but we don't think they paid a price for the "divide and conquer" and "keep 'em ignorant" tactics that the 1% use on the 99% either. WE ARE THE 99%!!
So nobody here would have a problem if Bachmann decided to disrupt a peaceful OWS demonstration? I think everyone needs to do more listening and less shouting down. Even though people disagree on solutions, I think most Americans agree on the goals, in spite of what one party says about the other.
As a country we need to grow up. We better do it fast.
So if this was fine for folks to do, why was there a big uproar when the one Rep called obama a liar during the state of the union address a couple of years back????

She was obviously being sarcastic when commenting about how great the first amendment is, because her later comments seemed to indicate that she is not in favor of freedom of speech when that speech conflicts with her own views or make her look bad.
