Obama to begin 9-day Asia-Pacific trip with economic conference

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama begins a nine-day trip through the Asia-Pacific region Saturday with a stop in Hawaii for a weekend economic conference where he will press for progress on a trans-Pacific free trade agreement.

The administration is taking care to highlight the importance of strong Asia-Pacific relations to the president's efforts to create jobs domestically.

First of all – thank you to ALL the veterans. May your lives be richer and more rewarding.

Mr. President while I don't always like some of your decisions, I admire your hard work and your work ethic. You sir are the hardest working president this country has had in my life time. You care about EVERYONE not just the wealthiest or the most able. You are a decent family man and a great role model for young men everywhere.

Thank you for giving my son health care and you can expect my vote as well as millions of others as we look forward to ANOTHER four years under your leadership.

Looks like the weather is turning cold in DC so time for Obama to pack the bags, take a break from all that campaigning and fund raising and head out to the warm destinations and pretend he's working on jobs in the USA.

Why doesn't he just stay home and tour the country meeting with people HERE that create jobs??? We will NEVER export our way out of this mess, especially when our primary export IS JOBS.

But you have to give it to Obama... he talks a good game and knows how to look busy while accomplishing absolutely NOTHING.

All you GOP/Tea Party folks are really hypocrites.....this president works harder for all Americans than Bush ever did. The only reason the GOP has control in the house is many people did not vote and listened to the right wing talking heads....That mistake will not happen again

You ought to take your binders off and realize what the majority of Americans have already figured out – the current occupant of 1600 Penndylvania is completely incompetant and WILL NOT get another term. So sorry.

    -----------
President Obama has been doing that for the past month. You accused him of campaigning on taxpayer dollars.

Our primary export is jobs because of the tax policies enacted by the Republican Bush administration. All of this talk about granting a tax amnesty to corporations who repatriate dollars has been tried before during the Bush-43 era. Instead of creating jobs, or paying their fair share of tax revenues, the corporations bought the money back into the country and gave it mostly to their shareholders. What happened to the rest you ask? Silly, Rabbit. They paid themselves handsome bonuses, of course.

Why are you thanking Obama??? WE are the ones paying for it! How about a big thank you for us actual taxpayers paying for your sons free healthcare? You see, I also have to pay for mine as well.

Another vacation? Seriously? This is not a vacation. By the way, no president has ever or probably ever will take more vacation time that George Bush did while in office. Although that may be a good thing because he sure created a mess when he was working.

Just words. Just words. Those words sounded like that came straight from conservative talk radio. They've been saying that since before he was even sworn in. But, they are just words. Just like how the 2011 election was supposed to be a continuation of the 2010 elections.

You're on the wrong page. The smart conservative pundits have already shifted out of hyperspace and have realized that most of the conservative base is on the wrong planet.

Yellow-Rose: do you understand that is is the President's job to represent our nation at the economic conference he's going to? Go back to high school and take a civics lesson so you can understand how our government and the world economy works. President Obama has worked harder for this nation than any other president in modern history. And to Fair is Fair: what's the alternative? None of the fools that are currently running as republicans stand a chance of getting elected. My family (who, BTW, are in the 1% financially) will all be voting for President Obama. He stopped our slide into another Depression, he passed ACA (which isn't perfect, but it's a start – single payer would have been better), he has kept us safe from our enemies, got Bin Laden, Gadahfi, the list of his accomplishments goes on and on. And he managed to do all these things without any help from the Republicans. It is those legislators who will lose their jobs in 2012. Obama/Biden to keep our country moving forward!!

    @ Emperor Norton -

If the economic situation doean't change drastically, Obama can be defeated by Romney. Gingrich, and perhaps Cain. Bank on it.

To my friends Yellow-Rose, 356 days and no more Obama and Democrat Party – leftist "progressive" socialist communist losers hellbent on destroying the USA.

Friends, or should I say, Children. I have a nephew who turned 11 today. A smart, intelligent, well-mannered young man who is the delight of his parents. Why? Because he knows that hate, ignorance and stupidity starts in the heart, travels to the brain and comes out of the month. He knows that one who treats others with respect will gain him respect from others, even when other disagree with him.

This is the future of America and the world. Its so unfortunate that you guys are not as wise as this 11year old.

Why, thankj-you. Laughter is the best medicine. It is a much better life than the world of greed, fear, and hate mongering that define the neo-con universe.

Kudos to your thanks to our Veterans and Active Duty military. They are a big part of why we can sit here and
yell insults at each other, never considering for one minute that "the other guy" just might have a good idea.
Somewhat like our Congress. We can ignore the haters, they are a sad lot, but some on this blog have
given each of us reasons to think about what is best for America. Maybe we disagree on who can do the best
job, but it is nice to read both sides of the reasonable arguments.
