Chelsea Clinton to hit the tube

(CNN) - And Chelsea Clinton makes three - three first children taking their famous last names to NBC News.

Clinton joined the Peacock network Monday as a special correspondent who will appear on "NBC Nightly News" and "Rock Center with Brian Williams," contributing to the "Making a Difference" series that highlights extraordinary stories from ordinary people, according to the network.

"People who imagine and implement solutions to challenges in their own lives, in their communities, in our country and in our world have always inspired me," Clinton said in a statement. "I hope telling stories through 'Making a Difference' - as in my academic work and non-profit work - will help me to live my grandmother's adage of "Life is not about what happens to you, but about what you do with what happens to you."

The famously private daughter of former Democratic President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will continue her work at the Clinton Foundation and her doctoral studies at NYU along with her new venture.

She previously worked at a hedge fund and hit the campaign trail in 2008 on behalf of her mother's presidential bid.

Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush, reports for NBC's "The Today Show" and Ron Reagan, the late President Ronald Reagan's son, is an analyst on MSNBC. Meghan McCain, daughter former Republican presidential nominee John McCain, is also a contributor on MSNBC.

the argument about people working all their lives and never getting as far as the offspring or relative of a president gets on the first day.........that's just reality everywhere. if you don't like it, then just take away the white house, planes, helis, resorts and make the president live in a two-bedroom apartment with his wife in one of the nicer sections of d.c.....he can bike to work, and eat at fast food places.

I admire Chelsea Clinton. A class act. Even Republicans have a hard time trashing her.

Looking forward to seeing Chelsea on TV -she is a lovely young lady and has made her parents proud. I hadn't planned to watch Rock Center but will definitely watch it now – and I agree with life is about what you do with what happens to you. There are many children born into privlege who have taken a different path. Chelsea, Ivanka Trump and the Bush girls are all good examples of how to do it right and their parents should be proud of them.

Rick McDaniel – have you ever watched NBC or MSNBC? They have both liberal and conservative contributors. It's not just one point of view. AS a matter of fact there's three hours of Joe Scarborough every weekday morning, along with Pat Buchanan, Michael Steele, Steve Schmidt, and Megan McCain as contributors. Dylan Ratagan is on in the afternoons, and he's no liberal. It's sad for those of you who come from the straight and narrow, where only your side and your views count. That seems so un-American to me.

Yes perhaps there might be other folkes out there with more journalism experience but can they say that their parents were First Lady and President of the United States? Can you imagine the political knowledge she can bring to the job as daughter who grew up experiencing how a US President and First Lady go about their daily business? Good luck Chelsea!

  14. Democrat Party - leftist "progressive" socialist communist losers hellbent on destroying the USA

Surprise surprise.... more left wing infiltration of the MSM. Although NBC couldn't really be called "main" anymore with their falling ratings.

And of course all the leftists in here just swoon over any Democrat's child. Compare the comments in here compared to the hate filled vile comments made about Sarah Palin's children, even the very young ones and her disabled child.

@Philin KC: "And, while she is no beauty queen, she is not unattractive."

Would you include a beauty assessment if this article was about the son of famous parents getting a job like this?

Sure is a lot smarter than Palin's daughter. At least she won't be dragging an illigitimate kid onstage with her just to get the money.

Chelsea is a very smart women. She earned her grades and worked hard.
why put her down, she had done nothing to you. She is very lucky to be afforded the life she has. I don't understand why people are so mean.

She is alright to us, but whether she wil be aggressive or not remains to be seen. Her "red meat" attack talent needs testing, if she is allowed to do so. Probably not. She will be required to be as neutral and unbiased a reporter as possible.

Not that Chelsea might not be qualified for the job, but I am sure being the daughter of a former president and current secretary of state didn't hurt her chances either.

To be honest there are a number reporters and anchors on television who, to me, act more like commentators than news people.

There hasn't been a decent news anchor since Walter Cronkite retired.

I won't vote for a woman, but there is an aura of destiny around her.

There are always negative responses to articles about the children of those in power in Washington. Chelsea Clinton has the credentials and the experience to begin reporting on special stories on NBC. While she is a very private person but she has much to offer. She is a good speaker and a highly intelligent woman.

Please tell me which station or tv news network which hires women based on performance alone and do not take into account looks and appearances.

Those who knock Chelsea because of her looks have never seen her in person or have a very skewed notion of beauty.
