Newt Gingrich back from the brink

Sheffield, Iowa (CNN) - Newt Gingrich will tell you his sudden surge in the polls surprises even him. Well, sort of. He thought it was going to come six weeks from now. Just in time for the Iowa caucuses.

A dead candidate walking just last summer, the former speaker of the House still oozes confidence. He now knows he has a real shot at the GOP nomination.

Under the pattern of GOP making every candidate to be a flavor, I think Gingrich's turn has come at a wrong time. He will be scrutinised like a hell and once he is pulled down again, that will be the end of his candidacy, as there is very short time left to recover!

Okay now we have a surge for the guy with 84 ethics violations (there's a number for those numbers in Time and on Hardball), 3 marriages after having affairs, the moral guy who told his first wife he wanted a divorce while she was in the hospital undergoing cancer treatment, and he left the House of Representatives in disgrace. What a joke the GOP of today is. Can anyone believe these are the people that should have anything to do with running our country?

If you liked Vice President Dick Cheney you would love President Newt Gingrich.

Newton might be up in the polls, but it doesn't mean he's electable. It just means that Republican Party has merged with the Tea Party and become the Stupid Party. His rise means that conservatives have memories comparable to the life span of a fruit fly. Either that or they think the rest of the world is mentally inferior and doesn't remember Newton's past. His campaign started off with an implosion for a reason. Nominate him so that Obama can refresh your memories.

Newt is the only candidate that makes sense. Would love to see him debate weak obama.

  7. 351 day until no more Obama

Funny how those at CNN asking the questions on this page think or declare Newt was on the brink; while all of the independents and conservatives know Newt will easily bet Obama in the 2012 election. The fact is any of the Republican candidates will beat Obama in the 2012 election in a landslide victory.

"He now knows he has a real shot at the GOP nomination."

A Newt Gingrich nomination would bring a landslide victory for President Obama. AND the Democratic Senate. AND the Democratic House. So, in the spirit of the statement being offered, bring it on Republicans ... give us Newt Grinrich to vote against and let us prove just what a mistake to humanity (and the Republican Party) Newt Gingrich truly is.
