Perry ad calls Obama comment 'pathetic'

(CNN) - Rick Perry is hitting the airwaves for the third time in Iowa, selling his message of government reform while criticizing President Barack Obama's "socialist policies."

The 30-second spot, which will air nationally and in the first-in-the-nation caucus state, starts with a clip of Obama saying America has been a "little bit lazy" over the last few decades.

After labeling the president's comment "pathetic," Perry calls for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution and decreased pay for members of Congress, pillars of his Washington reform plan put forth Tuesday.

"Obama's socialist policies are bankrupting America," Perry says in the spot. "We must stop him now."

The commercial, titled "Lazy," is the third such spot from the Texas governor, one of two candidates that have purchased ad time in the Hawkeye State ahead of January's caucuses. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas has also run ads in the state.

Although Perry's national and statewide poll numbers have dropped since his late entry into the race, he raised more than $17 million in the third fundraising quarter, enabling paid media buys.

Hey Rick, didn't you accept some TARP money for Texas. Before you call other socialist, take a look in the mirror. It's so funny how the REPUBES call other's socialist when they are also take government handouts for farm and oil subsidies. To me this is the same as the government giving a poor person money to survive. It's called a hand out.

Perry has made Texas pathetic. Close to last in most important categories. Fortunately for him, there will always be Mississippi. I do wonder if Perry know there are a lot of retired servicemen and voters in Texas who receive veterans benefits, get mail from the post office, draw social security and medicare, drive on interstate highways, enjoy that government inspected sea food, work at military bases, etc.

So, calling the unemployed and poor lazy because the "job creators" are busy NOT creating jobs is okay.
Saying that companies who have become complacent with the level of foreign investment and suggesting they go after some is not okay and socialist.

Just want to make sure I have the double standard pegged correctly here.

Perry has gall as he is the personification of the word "pathetic" and has demonstrated it over and over again.

NPR reported today that there are 11% of Americans who approve of or are in favor of communism, whereas there are only 9% who think Congress is doing a good job. Maybe Perry ought to try and like President Obama with Congress rather than with socialism.

while criticizing President Barack Obama's "socialist policies."
Well I'm glad to see that FINALLY somebody is willing to call Obama's policies exactly what they are!

"Obama's socialist policies are bankrupting America,"
$15 TRILLION in the hole as of today! if Obama is re-elected, we'll be over $20 TRILLION in debt when he leaves office. We'll be paying close to a TRILLION a year in interest payments ALONE. Of course, the Democrats will still refuse to cut spending and propose we raise taxes to 120% of income.

The question is why is he calling Obama lazy. I don't think it is a fair charge compared to George W(oman) Bush who seemed to be on vacation every other month. Obama has tried to (and passed some) get major legislation through the Congress. I don't know what Perry has done in Texas. What was his work schedule like?

There are some things a president shouldn't say. That was one of them. Who is advising Obama. Maybe it is Obama. Not a good statement. But, from time to time President's put their foot in their mouth. Bill Clinton, who said, We could give people back more of their Tax money, but they wouldn't know how to spend it. Are you a bit lazy? Do you know how to spend your own money???

Perry is a joke. After all his comedy antics during the debates the majority of Americans see him as a wacko. He needs to drop out of the race before he waste anymore money from his rich 1% donors. Oh, i forgot, his rich donors can claim it as tax right off!

And of course, the full quote from which Perry and the GOP are ripping the "lazy" comment out of context:

“We’ve been a little bit lazy over the last couple of decades. We’ve kind of taken for granted — ‘Well, people would want to come here’ — and we aren’t out there hungry, selling America and trying to attract new businesses into America."

So, rightwing politicians BSing with the casualness of breathing? Must be a day ending in "y".

Wait a minute,.. is this the same guy who wants to tear down and dismantle Washington,.. because they have been
lazy, derelict and unproductive... What an hypocrite!!!!!

What's pathetic is that Mr. Pathetic himself took that quote WAY out of context. Kinda like what Rove is doing right now with his Super PAC ads full of fear, smear, lies and propaganda.

Actually, Governor, I think you are the lazy one. Too "tired" to have a good debate, "not enough sleep", couldn't
"stand for two hours" and keep your thoughts together at the same time.
As far as I know, all of your jobs have been "government paid": Air Force, State, as well as your education. Now
you want us to pay you to "uproot" Washington, tear down every Department that protects us, etc? No thanks.
How about you come back to Texas, do your job, clean up our problems– or we can cut your salary.
Pathetic and lazy? Back at'cha cowboy.
