Third reason Pelosi can't debate Perry slips her mind

Washington (CNN) - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi declined Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry's debate invitation and poked a little fun at the Texas governor while she was at it.

"He did ask if I could debate here in Washington on Monday," Pelosi said, responding to a question about Perry's invitation. "It is my understanding that such a letter has come in. Monday I'm going to be in Portland in the morning and I'm going to be visiting some of our labs in the afternoon, that's two, I can't remember what the third thing is I'm going to be doing."

Pelosi was ribbing Perry for his recent debate gaffe when he couldn't recall the third government agency he would shut down if elected president during an awkward 54 seconds of air time.

Gov. Perry responded through his personal and campaign twitter accounts saying, "Something @NancyPelosi would like to forget: passing a 2k-page gov takeover of healthcare without reading it. American ppl haven't forgotten."

According the newspaper The Hill, Perry sent a letter to Pelosi saying, "I am in Washington Monday and would love to engage you in a public debate about my Overhaul Washington plan versus the congressional status quo. I think it would be a tremendous service to the American people to see a public airing of these differences," he continued. "Let the people decide. If Monday doesn't work, perhaps we could find a time in Iowa over the course of the next month to discuss these issues in front of the people of America's heartland."

Gov. Perry's Overhaul Washington plan includes cutting Congress to a part-time body.

Right now, Rick could not win a debate against a longhorn steer, or for that matter, tumbleweed.

I didn't know he was running for Pelosi"s job. Tell me again: What's the point of this weird debate proposal?

Maybe he should try the Current Speaker of the House. Wouldn't that be a more appropriate person to debate about the "congressional status quo"?

Rick is an example of what happens when we" . . .had too much tequila last night." I understand that there is an 8th grade student council president who accepted Rick's challenge to debate.

    Embarrassment?

Perry seems to enjoy embarrassments. Who in their right mind would like to debate one and one with Perry. I'm sure Pelosi who be embarrassing him and she's too much of a lady to stoop that low. I mean she's too sophisticated and intelligent (and sensitive) to willfully chose to embarrass anyone.

Perry simply needs to do some crash course in debating and public speaking, then MAN UP and debate intelligently with Bachmann and the rest of the republican field...those are the people he should challenge to debates...not Pelosi who's not running for presidential nomination.

Perry has embarrassed himself enough, why should he seek out others to embarrass him more?

Gov. Perry can't debate the potential candidates in his own party and got the nerve to think he can step in the ring with the Master. He doesn't know it but he doesn't want to get into the ring with The Minority Leader of the House. She would chew him alive and spit out the crap and there would be a lot of it to spit.

Nothing but political posturing for the crazy teabaggers. Perry never wanted to debated when he was running for governor of Texas....always had some excuse. He has proven want most of us sane Texans knew...he's a empty suit.

Pelosi isn't running for prez Perry. Grow a set and ask Obama to debate you. Of course he won't waste his time with you cause in a couple months you'll be voted off the island anyway.

Nice one Ms. Pelosi. It is nice to see a little levity now and again instead of the back-and-forth partisan bickering.

What? He can't even debate with the republicans who mostly agree with most of his positions. It's like he's looking for a home run ball. Sadly, he's likely to strike out even bigger. I like what the president has been saying about this cast of characters, let's talk to them when one of them is chosen over the others....until then, why waste our time?

Pelosi isn;t running for president, why would she want to be in a debate with the hypocrite, lying Texas governor?

I am beginning to think he wasn't drunk during that speech in New Hampshire, he's just plan crazy.
