Third reason Pelosi can't debate Perry slips her mind

Washington (CNN) - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi declined Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry's debate invitation and poked a little fun at the Texas governor while she was at it.

"He did ask if I could debate here in Washington on Monday," Pelosi said, responding to a question about Perry's invitation. "It is my understanding that such a letter has come in. Monday I'm going to be in Portland in the morning and I'm going to be visiting some of our labs in the afternoon, that's two, I can't remember what the third thing is I'm going to be doing."

Pelosi was ribbing Perry for his recent debate gaffe when he couldn't recall the third government agency he would shut down if elected president during an awkward 54 seconds of air time.

Gov. Perry responded through his personal and campaign twitter accounts saying, "Something @NancyPelosi would like to forget: passing a 2k-page gov takeover of healthcare without reading it. American ppl haven't forgotten."

According the newspaper The Hill, Perry sent a letter to Pelosi saying, "I am in Washington Monday and would love to engage you in a public debate about my Overhaul Washington plan versus the congressional status quo. I think it would be a tremendous service to the American people to see a public airing of these differences," he continued. "Let the people decide. If Monday doesn't work, perhaps we could find a time in Iowa over the course of the next month to discuss these issues in front of the people of America's heartland."

Gov. Perry's Overhaul Washington plan includes cutting Congress to a part-time body.

When did Rick start caring what the people think? He hasn't been doing much for them in Texas. Oh wait, corporations are people too.

Hey...Ricky Bobby. Didn't your momma tell you to never sword fight with Zorro or to tug on a tiger's tail? You're way in over your head – If you think you made a fool of yourself with a 60 sec. pregnant pause it would be pure suicide to tangle with Pelosi...

For this dim wit to poke fun at anyone is hilarious. There's a reason why she doesn't speak to the press anymore. They made a fool out of her when she was Speaker Of The House.

Dear Governor Perry... suggestion: when one finds oneself in a hole, the first order of business should be to stop digging. FYI... Congresswoman Pelosi has absolutely nothing to do with you attempting to gain the GOP nomination for president. Try debating the people you're competing with. Oh... wait.... that hasn't been turning out so well, has it?

Pelosi would be crazy to debate Perry. All he is seeking is public attention since he continues to fall in the polls.

Hey Rick...if healthcare remains in the hands of PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES, as "Obamacare" accomplishes, how then is it a GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF HEALTHCARE? In my view, that would be the SINGLE PAYER OPTION, which did not materialize.

Funny, none of these radical right Republican dips have yet to explain how it's "government takeover of healthcare" when it remains in the hands of private insurance companies, as it always did. Very peculiar! But then, facts were never a Republican strong suit.

LOL. Are they trying to equate her forgetting what might be on her schedule, to Perry forgetting what agency he wants to abolish or Cain not knowing anything about Lybia?

The health care reform bill was long, because we have a complicated health care system, which serves many diverse populations. The bill was available online for everyone – including the Reps and Senators who voted on it – to read.

Newsflash, Rick: Not everyone is as intellectually lazy as you. If people didn't take the time to read it, it's their fault.

@Bridget: Such arrogance in this current administration. They act like school children"

Are you as dumb (or just as blind) as you appear? The arrogance is from Perry & his ilk.

'School children' is watching any Rep debate (which I'd bet YOU don't do) and then posting a comment like yours with a straight face. Turn off the right/wrong wing radio & television and try fettering out some facts on your own. You'd be amazed at how illuminating that can be....

Potential moneymaker for the country. Pelosi agrees to the debate, and at the last minute remembers a prior commitment and gets Obama to substitute for her. Do you realize what Comedy Central would pay for that debate footage? It would be like the "Roast of Rich Perry" but they wouldn't have to pay the bar tab for getting a dozen B-listers drunk. That would knock "Chimp sticking hand up butt, smells hand and falls out of the tree" right out of the most hits for a viral video.

What a ridiculous suggestion! And a clear attempt by the Perry campaign to give him a shot to "go after those dirty liberals in Congress" they are always going on about. It seems they think, since he looks like bad against his own people, if they can show him against someone they don't like (Pelosi) he will seem more electable to conservatives. Sadly, unless they totally rig the debate (wouldn't surprise me), he would just be further embarrassed.
