Letterman offers Cain his 9-9-9 plan

(CNN) - Leave it to one of the kings of late night comedy to press Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain on his "9-9-9" tax plan and offer up his own suggestion to the former pizza executive.

"You ought to get some sort of toll-free number," Letterman told Cain in an interview set to air Friday. "You dial 9-9-9, you get a free pizza."

Although the plan is "clever" and "fun," Letterman, host of CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman," told Cain: "You don't even know what it means."

Cain's response? "It works."

The candidate's tax plan, a pillar of his White House bid, proposes replacing the current tax system with a 9% corporate tax, 9% income tax and 9% national tax rate.

"Instead of a free pizza when you dial 9-9-9 you're going to be able to get a job, that's the whole point, OK?" Cain said. "I'm about creating jobs."

But Letterman countered that the economy may be "beyond solvability at this point," to which Cain jokingly responded, "Are you trying to talk me out of this? He's trying real hard to talk me out of this."

    999. Like the Teapublican's alter-ego Germanic "Nein, nein, nein." ("No, no, no.") to anything Democrats propose?

And Obama, giving a speech the other day in Hawaii said, 'here in Asia' WHAT?

He grew up in Hawaii, and all this time thinks Hawaii is in ASIA?

The dumb fraud is OUT in 2012!!!

It wont take long, now that this video is out, for people to understand that Herman is ok to like, but not exactly presidential. He's a seventies-eighties sitcom icon, he confused about where he is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs7fJ6jAOVU

Cain is just another wannabee that has extremely rich step brothers etc. Don't let him fool you that he is a blue collar worker because he isn't. Might want all of the dudes running to produce their birth certificates before one gets elected. Cain is trying to lie his way out of touching female employees inappropriately and that is going to take him down no matter how hard he lies to get out of it.

Just a note here for MIKE: Anyone who has a job PAYS TAXES! It's called payroll deduction. Ever hear of it? Even if you do not pay anymore taxes on your federal, they have already taken taxes from your payroll, that includes social security, medicare & medicaid deductions. The idea that 47% of all working Americans pay no income tax is a cruel, vicious and deliberate lie, told to the angry & fearful, (by the rich & powerful) which they then dutifully repeat as often as possible. (perhaps it helps them believe it) Don't worry about it, I don't expect the faithful to doubt their "fearless leaders"! So keep up the deceptions! And keep deceiving yourselves, most of all!

The republicans have clowns, idiots and talk show hosts as candidates. All unelectable. I would love to vote for a centrist right wing candidate, but this freak parade is ridiculous.

The problem with the current tax system is that it promotes consumption and penalizes production. Cain has the right idea, a flat tax on everyone (everyone pays their fair share), a flat tax on businesses (every business pays taxes), and a consumption tax, (everyone including tax cheats and illegals pay on what they consume further people are encouraged to save). Cain has the right idea, and a nice marketing line but he is incapable of selling his product. His answer on Libya of course was unbelievable.

Letterman is a Democrat Shill. Everybody knows this. I'm surprised that none of the candidates have called him out on it yet when they've appeared on his program. His "comedy" is expressly designed to attempt to 'hurt' the candidates. I'm waiting for him to go after Obama with as much gusto as he went after Bush or for his writers to do even half the opposition research that they've done on ANY of the potential Republican candidates.

@ Ricky if you have 8% sales tax in cali and 9% for federal, that would not be 15%. that would be 17%, if you dont have a job i can see why, if you do i feel bad for your employer.

Sheeeesh.......Cain grabs the woman by the hair of her head and pulls same to his crotch. BOY, thats what I call a real MANLY approach. Women LOVE that. WOWwwwwwwwww. When this info got out, its has place him in MASSIVE demand. After this article was printed, twenty ladies converged on a Cain look-a-like and raped him on Wall Street. Whoaaaaaaa. I'm sorry. I misread. They cut him up in little pieces; then cut the pieces to pieces. GEE, a woman scorned, saith Shakespear.
