Letterman offers Cain his 9-9-9 plan

(CNN) - Leave it to one of the kings of late night comedy to press Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain on his "9-9-9" tax plan and offer up his own suggestion to the former pizza executive.

"You ought to get some sort of toll-free number," Letterman told Cain in an interview set to air Friday. "You dial 9-9-9, you get a free pizza."

Although the plan is "clever" and "fun," Letterman, host of CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman," told Cain: "You don't even know what it means."

Cain's response? "It works."

The candidate's tax plan, a pillar of his White House bid, proposes replacing the current tax system with a 9% corporate tax, 9% income tax and 9% national tax rate.

"Instead of a free pizza when you dial 9-9-9 you're going to be able to get a job, that's the whole point, OK?" Cain said. "I'm about creating jobs."

But Letterman countered that the economy may be "beyond solvability at this point," to which Cain jokingly responded, "Are you trying to talk me out of this? He's trying real hard to talk me out of this."

Letterman's a bigger idiot than Cain. His plan is 0-0-0 because that's what he is - a snarky, conceited, condescending zero.

GOPs have high Entertainment Value. No doubt, we need it in the bad recession. This guy may be thinking to hire President Obama to do his job when he becomes the President.

Herman Cain was a terrible canidate. His 9-9-9 plan is just a catchy slogan he hopes catches on like Obama's "Hope and Change" slogan. Hopefully America is smart enough not to get fooled twice by a canidate who has no substance and only words. Obama was just as qualified as Cain and is showing that currently. Americans need to smarten up and educate themselves. Stop listening to what the media pushes down our throat and make a smart decision on your own. Know something about our country and politics before voting. Anyone that voted for Obama after all he campaigned on is words "hope and change" should be ashamed.

    Tony is Maine:
I saw that on Rachel Maddow too (MSNBC); she has been consistently callling Herman Cain's campagin THE CAIN ART PROJECT. Too funny! SHe has got to be the smartest PERSON on TV, just as THOM HARTMANN is on satellite radio. I think more FOX-HEADS should really tune in to other radio stations & tv stations to get more diversified news & opinions. Just sticking to one FAUX-HOLE isn't going to cut it...

Our biggest problem isn't the economy; it's that our priorities are out of whack. A mature society decides what it must have, and finds a way to pay for it, instead of allowing its economics to dictate its social morality. The so-called "debt crisis" isn't a crisis; it's just one more problem that needs to be addressed. When and if America decides what its values are and what is truly important, we will make it happen and be "great" again. A clue: it won't happen by turning the clock backwards.

    Fair is Fair

"Herman (Where de white women at) Cain is still around?"
Read this statement – and then ask yourself "Would this have EVER been said when referring to a democrat?" You liberals should really be ashamed of yourselves.
Get off your short pony Fair is Fair. That ignorant and illogical reach that you made the other day as to who took at shot at Obama in the WH was beyond the pale racist and ultimately proven wrong (Idaho not DC).
So give us a break, you're as guiilty as tne rest of us.

    Sorry, Neil –
Obama's campaign won't mind having Perry as the GOP nomination: they can go after Perry for his cronyism, probably more than any other candidate, and just for being a stupid jerk – sorry, I didn't mean to say that. Perry will no bounce back up, no way, not after his flubs in the debates and in other places. Cain won't be a problem to Obama because of ....Cain himself! Romney won't be a problem because of this constant flip-flops – more than a salmon in a boat – and also because Romney has taken more corporate money than anyone else, and his Romneycare. Obama's campaign is more than ready for Romney. I think the biggest threat to Obama is Gingrich, but he is the most ethically-challenged of all the candidates, like I have said before, even his baggage has baggage, and look at his marital life. Obama is going to make sure it's a cakewalk!

Everything he says has been a joke. The 999 is from the Sims City video game, the "leader, not a reader" was a line from the Simpson's. The "poet" he quoted at the debate was a song from the Pokemon Movie. People you got punked.

Matt: You are right, you work hard you will be rewarded. The problem is that under the Republicans you will pay much higher taxes while the upper 10% pay less and get richer. By the way, big government made this country what it is. Educate yourself before you buy into the Republican lies.

Cain seeking Secret Service protection is a last ditch attempt at trying to fool the 28 people that comprise his base that he is presidential material.
His 9-9-9 never had a shot in hell as soon as it left his lips.
Why do we keep beating this dead horse?

If Herman Cain is prepared to GUARANTEE that anyone who wants a job will get one under his administration, I say we elect him. BUT ... he has to hold to that guarantee. The first time one person holds up their hand and says "I want a job" and does not get one, then all the Republicans in Congress and everyone in his administration resign, all their assets are siezed, and the money is divided up by the unemployed.

Is it a deal, tea partiers?
