Washington (CNN) - So the "super committee" failed. Can you honestly say you were expecting a different outcome?
The inability of an evenly split panel of Capitol Hill Democrats and Republicans to agree on $1.2 trillion in savings is about as surprising as January snow in Fairbanks, Alaska. Elected officials in Washington can't even pass a budget anymore, much less agree on politically tough choices about taxes and spending.
Kinda hard to find a compromise when you load up the commitee with super-partisan members. Doomed to fail from the start.
Remember, this is a spending issue. All legislation of this type must originate in the House, which we all know is controlled by Republicans. Failure is on their backs, not the Democrats.
The new legislation will allow employers tax credits of up to $5,600 for hiring veterans who have been unemployed longer than six months. It will also give employers a tax credit of up to $9,600 for hiring long-unemployed disabled veterans.
I am all for this bill which is featured in a different story and tells about Obama signing legislation.
However, do you liberals who complain about the evil corporations who pay no taxes know that this will allow more evil corporations to pay fewer taxes? I thought Obama was on your side. And here he is inventing new tax breaks for the filthy rich.
However, do you liberals who complain about the evil corporations who pay no taxes know that this will allow more evil corporations to pay fewer taxes?
It was my understanding that these deductions were for small businesses, actual small business as measured by gross sales not the number of owners.
The evil deductions that encourage corporations to ship jobs overseas are the real ones that you should be upset about. They can deduct their foreign taxes of off their US obligations. We, the taxpayers, pay their corporate foreign taxes.
"Raising taxes is not a plan."
Cutting revenue and increasing spending is just plain dumb. That is what we have done for the past 30 years, and doubled down on it for the past decade. Almost all of our national debt can be traced to tax cuts enacted in the name of trickle down economics.
Besides, Norquist said allowing the BTCs to expire is not a violation of his tax pledge because you are not voting for a tax increase. You are not casting a vote at all.
What's so totally dishonest, is that the Democrats claim the Bush tax cuts benefit the wealthiest people, when in fact, they affect all income levels. If the Bush tax cuts are repealed, EVERYONE"S taxes will go up. As usual the Democrats lie to the public, going and coming.
Even their "millionaire's tax" is totally dishonest, as that will generate less than 50% of the money Obama has spent, every year in office. In other words........even THAT won't cover Obama's runaway spending.
People really need to get some reality, in the fact the Democrats are lying to them, left and right. The media report this stuff.......knowing it is garbage......but they never call the Dems out for the lies. What value are the media??????
Four and the Door asked:
I guess the Democratic plan is to drive it up to $25 trillion before they come up with a plan?!?!
The Democratic plan is to uphold the Republican promise that the Bush Tax Cuts were temporary. Eliminating those cuts would balance the budget in less than 10 years, and we can begin paying down the debt. An estimate based upon currently unemployment rates.
The Ryan plan doesn't balance the annual budget for 30 years, by which time the debt would be well in excess of $50 trillion. Ryan estimates that unemployment will dip below 5%, which is absurd because no one knows where the jobs will come from.
Bound to fail? These know-nothings were elected to office to provide governance. The art of which sometimes requires compromise and making hard choices. If they can't do the job, perhaps they should all go home and we at home should tell the bureaucrats how to run the country via the internet?
The Republicans will be BLAMED for the impass.. Democrats wants more SPENDING and more TAXES with no CUTS . The Republicans want less spending with NO new taxes. OH well, Everyone whats MORE.......With out paying for IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Our politcians are a failure and evidently we are in for some serious hardship as a country before any changes are going to be made. I cannot imagine a more incompetent Republic Congress! President Obama would do this country a great favor if he would simply refuse to sign ANYTHING this REPUBLIC PARTY PASSED. All I can say is I am glad I saved my money because I think I will need a lot to live on and and equal amount to capitalize on unless the Republic Party gets voted out of Congress in 2012!
No future for America with Republic's controlling Congress!
