(CNN) – President Obama signed legislation Monday that provides significant tax credits to businesses that hire unemployed and disabled veterans, the only measure in the president's larger jobs proposal to receive any bipartisan support.
In a signing ceremony in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, Obama offered rare praise to a Congress he has otherwise chastised for months over failure to take significant action on the nation's struggling economy.
It is about time we start helping all the veterans regardless of what war or conflict they were in. they deserve more than we could ever give back
That is great news...but can they now work for the rest of us?
Republicans still object to the extension of the payroll tax cut, which affects mostly middle income earners. They do not view it as a tax hike. But ironically, Republicans support an extension to the Bush cuts for the wealthy because they consider it a tax increase.
Can someone explain the reason for this apparent hypocrisy?
These extremist republicans only agreed to this bill, because they couldn't find a good way to oppose it and make it look like the democrats were at fault. Additionally, they never intended to reach an agreement in the super committee. It was just an exercise to make the American people think they were actually doing something.
Congratulations to our vets and to our President for continuing to look out for them.
There is no way we can repay our debt to veterans and those currently serving. I cannot go as far as to congratulate Congress for passing this portion of the jobs bill as they did it because there would be no way in hell for them to explain ans spin away this particular obstruction and refusal to help those that lay down their lives in order to protect the lives of those in Congress, and their fellow countrymen
glad at least on adult in DC is working......................now if Congress could act adult and stop fighting for the super rich and fight for all americans
