Gingrich shows humane side on immigration

Washington (CNN) - In his first debate as the Republican frontrunner, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich took a political gamble Tuesday by wading into the volatile issue of limited amnesty for long-time illegal immigrants.

"If you've been here 25 years and you got three kids and two grandkids, you've been paying taxes and obeying the law, you belong to a local church, I don't think we're going to separate you from your family, uproot you forcefully and kick you out," Gingrich said near the end of the CNN debate on national security.

More than likely he has already been brought into a room, and given the words from some person of great wealth, that immigrants are a good source of cheap labor. Also, that there would be a conflict of interest with various religious organizations that participate in relief services. Another euphanism for cheap labor/increased profitability to corporate argriculture and sweat shops, where pay is low and benefits are non existant. To these people, flesh has a price.

Being reasonable may finish him with the Tea Party crowd. Remember, Gingrich's campaign almost died when he criticized Ryan's plan to convert Medicare into a voucher system, calling it "right-wing social engineering." But what other choices do Tea Partiers have? If they are willing to overlook Gingrich's extramarital affairs and ethical problems, because they are running out of anti-Romney alternatives, they may just pretend that this never happened.

Humane side to exploit illegals? Keeping workers here without rights? Gingrich speaks with forked tongue. He doesn't want to break up illegal families who have been here twenty-five years? First of all, didn't they break up families to move here? What happened to their families in their native country? Second, how are they going to live here in old age with out social security, pensions and on a life below minimum wage. I've seen the cages their anchor babies are kept in. This is an inhumane practice allowing illegals to work here without rights. Get rid of the magnates.

This sounds so like Sen. John McCain talking. I would hope the GOP learned from that mistake. Security at the border
comes first and is long overdue.

Newt Gingrich did wonderful tonight, and the subject of immigration reform was brilliant. I think conservatives need to stop harassing the general republic in telling them that they want to deport every illegal immigrant and you can't do that, there is no possible way. So you need to think of a solution which by the way Fox News, CNN and other affiliate's like them won't tell you, that Gingrich had the solution to this problem, Look this problem isn't going away, but I think it would be Un American to deport every single illegal immigrant, when 1 We can't find them that easily, and two when Gingrich stated it, he said there should be a green card attached to their college or military, and may I remind you that green card doesn't necessarily mean they stay here for good, but he was right on another issue, and that is the issue of a person that has been here for a long period of time, how are you going to tell them that have built a foundation and "Are Paying Taxes" to leave their family and uproot them, how would you like it, if you were an honest person that paid their dues, and you got deported, so I think you have to look at the bigger picture, and may I remind you once again Newt Gingrich had the only solution further me he has said and stated and will continue to state that "English"....English....English should be the official rule and law of government, and in my own humble opnion that is when we should turn up the heat on illegals that come here if they do not want to learn the English language then we should deport you, if you want to change the National Anthem here in America to Spanish then you should be deported because that's what some of them not all may I remind you want to do, they want to come in here, and demand we listen to them, and I know Newt Gingrich wouldn't allow that, and I think he is a wonderful man for making a bold statement, and before they cut him off, he gained applause for it. You see the "Republican Party" needs to be the era of change for how we look on illegal immigration, we have tried to reform the plan under the obama administration but obama doesn't want to do it, this solution is far more humane then just deporting them without a good justification, and if you look furrther into Gingrich also believes that if they commit a crime, they should be held accountable and be locked up, that in my opinion is one more way to deport them if this is the case.

Wow, what a one sided headline. Swallows hook line and sinker Gringrich's characterization of his own position. Those who oppose illegal immigration are inhumane. And Gingrich could have no hidden agenda - like keeping the poor and lower middle class in America poor and lower middle class by flooding the marketplace and attacking their work ethic all the while as he denies citizenship to illegals. In the south where he comes from blacks and poor whites do the jobs illegals do in the northeast. But they have the nerve to press for decent work conditions or a decent wage. Thank goodness Illegals won't do that - especially without citizenship. The rich will get richer through exploitation and not through brains. Sad that the press can't be trusted on this subject.
