Washington (CNN) - Massachusetts congressman Barney Frank, a prominent 16-term liberal Democrat and arch-enemy of political conservatives nationwide, will announce Monday he does not intend to seek re-election in 2012, according to a statement from Frank's office.
Frank, 71, will hold a news conference in his district to discuss the decision at 1 p.m.
yes finally this really is a Santa Claus
I can only hope Richie Neal joins him!!!!!
If he was elected 16 times, and no one on this blog likes hime (me included), then who voted for him? There are not that many gays in MA to keep this man in office. I think there are some hyprocrites on this blog. Good going those who voted for him your the reason we have buffoons like this in Congress.

Barney Frank continues to be a thinking man......time to enjoy yourself Barney and smell the roses. Thanks for all your 30 yrs. of good works.
Any "newly" elected Congresspersons or Senators should have to confrom to a new Term limit statute that they cannot remain in the same office longer than two terms, just like the President. This will allow the sitting idiots to agree and let them peter out so to say, like Barney Frank into retirement and beyond.
Some here are suggesting the need for term limits. The fact that Barney Frank could be elected to the US congress suggests a need for voting restrictions.
