Romney: Obama will 'cower' from debating his record

(CNN) – Brushing aside his recent spat with Newt Gingrich, GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Wednesday said he's more geared up for a fight with national Democrats.

"I think it's kinda curious that they want to jump into our primary and try and throw the primary to someone who they think has a better chance of losing to the president," Romney said in an interview on Sean Hannity's radio show. "I'm kind of invigorated by the fact that they've decided to go after me."

Romney has been the subject of several major Democratic-backed campaigns targeting the former Massachusetts governor as a flip-flopper.

The Democratic National Committee launched its latest strike on Monday, releasing a commercial that paints Romney's record as inconsistent in several likely swing states.

But Romney said those efforts are simply a tactic aimed at maneuvering attention away from what he calls the president's failure in office.

"Every time they try it, we'll just smile and come back and say, 'Mr. President, you said [when you took office] you'd hold unemployment below 8%. It hasn't been below 8% since," he said.

Romney stirred controversy last week when his campaign took Obama's comments about the economy out of context, and his campaign called foul when the DNC made a similar move in its commercial against Romney this week.

While Romney has held a steady spot in the top tier of the GOP presidential race for much of the cycle, he now finds himself up against Gingrich, who's accelerated to the top at a rapid pace in recent weeks.

The two have taken knocks against each other in the last few days, but Romney on Wednesday shifted almost all of his criticism on Obama, saying he thinks the president will struggle in the general election.

"He will try and cower from any of debates which will have him have to talk about his record," Romney said. "That's the last thing he wants to do."

Romney is one guy who knows about creating unemployment, seeing as that was his specialty as an executive.

    Obama would "cower".
Mitt is delusional. Did anyone see Mitt's interview with Fox? He was squirming in his seat. Just think of what Obama will do to him. LOL

Over 3.5 million jobs created by our current president, the end of bin Laden and a number of his cronies, hope for 50 million uninsured Americans, saving almost 2 million auto industry related jobs, an end to the 8 million jobs lost under Bush's last three years. According to the Bush experts?, the loss of GDP was reported as 2.9%, but in reality in was negative 8.9%. It required a much larger stimulus. Mitt can only run on his flip flopping.

Well Mittens, how fast are you trying to run away from your record? Shut up about the President and outline a credible plan to fix the economy and provide jobs and forget the same old tired republican agenda to cut taxes for millionaires like yourself. Also, forget about the same old tired cut regulations, subsidize big business and reward Wall Street and big banks rhetoric.

Pres. Obama only needs to ask Romney: Yes or No, MA was 47th out of 50 in job creation when you were Governor there?

Poor Romney, trying to pick a fight but all are wise enough to know that if they ignore him he will stay at his 20% GOP approval rating and fade away. By the way his example of what couldn't be countered (8% unemployment when he took office) is the easiest thing in the world to counter, solid job growth for how many consequative months, 8% when he took office after 8 yeras of GOP is nothing to write home about, GOP has done nothing to help only prevented growth, Bush sr. and Reagans economic advisors said it would be about 15 years after Bush wrecked the economy for full recovery. . . .

I wouldn't see why he would. It's one hell of a record frankly. Bin Laden and weakening al qaeda, medical insurance reform, Wall Street reform, pulling us back from the precipice of a Depression and starting (admittedly not a strong one) the recovery, eliminating DADT, getting us out of Iraq, toppling Gaddahfi without the loss of a single US serviceman, trade deals to increase exports, a nuclear treaty with Russia, and a Stimulus bill that kept things from going in the tank while advancing a multitude of goals that he campaigned on in 2008. A great record and he clearly has my vote next year. I hope he talks about it a lot. It should contrast nicely with the human weather vane who does not appear to have one single belief other than that he should be President.

You know what's funny, Romney has been campaigning for president since '08 and still can only muster 23%. Nobody likes a flip flopper Mitt, especially one without a personality.

The flip-flopper champ, tied for frst place with Newt in that category, will find his ammunition is inadequate for a debate with Obama, if he ever gets there. When opponents in your own party call you a flip-flopper and you are caught on tape making contradictory statements, you're a target that's easy to hit.

Not only is Romney out of his league nor has any beneficial record himself worth mentioning (except his HCR that he is running away from), but he actually thinks he's already won the GOP nomination and that he has 80% of the party behind him. Gingrich is ahead of him in Iowa, SC, Florida, and other states while catching him NH.

It should have been clear to Romney that when 75% of your own party doesn't want you, you've got a problem. And this is before he can tussle with President Obama's (and his record right here that he will be campaigning on):

    1. He got OBL and most of his top Al Qaeda buddies
    2. He ended the Iraq War
    3. He passed HCR (that 7 presidents tried and failed, some with huge Democratic majorities)
    4. He stopped 700,000 jobs/month loss and turned it into 20 straight months of private sector gain
    5. Equal Pay Act (affecting millions of families headed by women)
    6. Credit Card Reform Act
    7. Wall Street Reform Act
    8. START treaty and other nuclear non-proliferation measures that have made us safer
    9. Winding down Afghanistan
    10. Pulled a fast one on the GOP to accept a trigger on military-industrial complex cuts at the debt-ceiling debacle the GOP created

Romney, sit down, shut up, and cast your vote for President Obama in 2012.

Romney should concentrate on his lies, his health plan that was used as a model for Obama care and his miserable job as governor of Massachutes. Also his father George Romney, former 2 time Michigan governor and president of American Motors, had the guts to go against the GOP and Democratic 'hawks' in 1968 after coming back from a fact finding tour to Viet Nam. He said the Pentagon officials tried to brain-wash him about successes and the mission in Viet Nam and he concluded that the war was wrong. This took the kind of guts to buck the GOP in '68 that Mitt does not have. He'll never have the courage or the heart of his dad who was also an avid supporter of civil rights. Imagine Mitt saying the Wall Street 'barons' robbed America made the citizens bail them out and then tried to blame the whole affair on everyone but themselves and remove the few regulations that do exist. (And get PAID!) Well, corporations are people too. What an epitaph.

Romney can't take hard questions and will lose his cool if pressured. I wish the other republicans wanting the
nomination would stop pampering him. I think the only one that will put pressure on Romney is Newt.

If Mitt's party didn't block every jobs bill, a lot of people would be employed. You see Mitt, YOU can't ship infrastructure jobs oversea - of course, you or Newt can import mexicans to do them.

Willard, Willard, Willard. How silly of you. Don't you know that as soon as you open your mouth to mention anything about the president holding unemployment rates to below 8% the president will say "It probably would be less than 8% if republican governors didn't cut public employee jobs at a rate almost equal to the rate the private sector created jobs, AND if the GOP had chosen to work with me to lift America out of recession instead of filibustering EVERY SINGLE THING I tried to get done!?"

The American are not going to buy what you will be selling "My first name is Mitt". You don't even know what your momma named you. Maybe, we should ask to see your birth certificate to find out if you're telling the truth! Where's the Tea Party when you need them? LOL

Romney's line is laughable. I'm sure its straight out of Cheney/Roves book but even they know that when Romney plays the unemployment line Obama will play Romneycare, abortion, immigration lines from Romney. This is laughable.
