Rubio to release memoir

(CNN) - Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida is set to release a book about his life in the fall of 2012.

Sentinel, an imprint of the Penguin Group, will publish the memoir about Rubio, who's frequently mentioned as a potential running-mate on the Republican presidential ticket.

The book will detail the rise of the GOP star and junior senator who was born to parents who left Cuba shortly before Fidel Castro took control of the island.

Rubio, 40, campaigned heavily as the son of exiles and reported on his website that his parents fled under the dictatorship of Castro.

But controversy grew over his family's history last month after a Washington Post report found that his parents left Cuba in 1956, prior to the start of Castro's regime.

The news prompted critics to attack Rubio for embellishing his life's story, to which Rubio said he was unaware of the exact dates until the story broke.

While his staff updated his website after the story published, the senator sill maintained he was the son of exiles, as his parents weren't allowed to return to Cuba under Castro's rule.

Sentinel acquired the rights to the memoir after what it called a "competitive" auction process with six publishing houses.

"Marco Rubio is one of the brightest rising stars of the Republican Party and will likely be on the national stage for many years to come," said Adrian Zackheim, the publisher of Sentinel. "Of equal interest is the emotional story of his family's journey to the U.S. from Cuba, their exile experience and how that shaped the Senator's life."

The book deal is waiting on final approval by the Senate Ethics Committee.

Dude is 40 years old and he's publishing a "memoir"? HAHAHAHAHA. Patently ridiculous. Altho, it should be fun watching it get torn apart as full of gross fabrications and rewrites of his personal history as he's been proven to enjoy doing. Lying sack of...

Yeah, whatever. Another GOPer living in GOPerville fantasy land, make believe garbage. Biggest surprise with this guy Rubio would be to learn he actually had any "ethics" to begin with.

Maybe it'll have 2 chapters on his parent's leaving since he can't seem to make up his mind which is true.

Will Marco Rubio correct the fact that his family left CUBA loooooong before Castro came into power?....instead of lying and trying to embellish his family history as being anti-Castro!!!

This guy's not old enough to have a memoir! Used to be, memoirs were written by people who had really accomplished something in their lives (Presidents, etc.) and they were written late in life. Nowadays, it seems every Tom, Dick or Harry thinks we're all waiting on pins and needles to read about his life thus far.

I live here. Yes, the Cuban population both young and old put this man in office. I heard several say they want someone that represents them. Well,he votes to keep Gitmo open, votes against education, votes against tax relief for the middle class, votesfor cutting SS, Medicare and Medicaid. Sorry to point this out....Miami is full of SS, Medicare and Medicaid recipients. They vote against their self interest just like everyone else.

How is the book going to start? He doesn't know when his family got here. If they swam ashore, were pro-Castro or pro Batista. He admitted that the story of his family's arrival to this country has gotten murky and unclear in the re-telling. When something that crucial is, er, um, forgotten, I wouldn't put any stock in the veracity of the rest of the tale.

@ Keith in Austin: What are you basing your prediction that Rubio will be a GREAT President on? So far all the indicators say that he will be as unethical as the rest of the current and uselessG GOP posse. Or are you just going with the Anyone but Obama crowd on this one? I mean come on, Rubio is not even good-looking!
    Wink, wink!! lol!
