Gingrich event canceled amid safety concerns

(CNN) – The bookseller set to host a Newt Gingrich book signing Friday canceled the event, citing public safety concerns.

The Republican presidential candidate and former House speaker was scheduled to visit Hudson News at Union Station in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Callista to promote her new children's book and his two most recent books.

Then and now: A lot the same for Gingrich

(CNN) – More than a decade has passed since Newt Gingrich delivered a series of speeches espousing his ideals about limited government and personal responsibility, but the addresses carried similar themes to those he gives on the campaign trail today.

The remarks, recorded by CNN at the time, provide insight into the man, who is now the frontrunner for the GOP nomination, as he defined what it means to be an American in his mind and how those ideals fit within the larger structure of government.

(CNN) – Michele Bachmann's decision to skip Donald Trump's upcoming Republican presidential debate has the real estate mogul fuming.

Poll: Voters want to throw 'em out

(CNN) – Anti-incumbent attitudes are more inflamed now than they have been in 19 years.

According to a Gallup poll released Friday, more than three quarters of registered voters say most members of Congress deserve to lose their jobs–the highest number since 1993, the year before the political climate resulted in a Republican "tsunami."

(CNN) - One of Ron Paul's chief supporters – his son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul - said Friday that Newt Gingrich stood opposed to tea party values.

"I got elected with a lot of the tea party support and the tea party movement," Sen. Paul said on CNN "Newsroom."

Romney hits a positive note in new radio ads

(CNN) – Mitt Romney's presidential campaign will release positive radio ads in Iowa and New Hampshire Friday, as part of an increase in campaign messaging.

The minute-long spots hail the former Massachusetts governor's economic plan as the "boldest GOP agenda since Reagan in 1980" and are peppered with praise from leading national and Granite State Republicans. Iowa and New Hampshire hold the first two contests on the road to the White House, hosting caucuses on Jan. 3 and a primary on Jan. 10 respectively.

Team Romney takes on Gingrich over Medicare

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - The Romney campaign stepped up its assault on Newt Gingrich Friday with a web video hitting the former House speaker for going against party orthodoxy in May.

Soon after he jumped into the race, Gingrich was asked about his thoughts on a plan proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin to overhaul Medicare. Gingrich called the plan, which would institute voucher accounts for beneficiaries, "right-wing social engineering."
