McCain and Putin spar over Libya policy

Moscow (CNN) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin accused U.S. drones and special forces of involvement in the death of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi in comments Thursday.

He also attacked U.S. Sen. John McCain over a warning that Russia might follow the same path as Libya, suggesting McCain was not of sound mind following his time as a prisoner during the Vietnam War.

Romney ahead in N.H.; race for second less certain

(CNN) - Mitt Romney's lead in the first-in-the-nation primary state was confirmed in a second New Hampshire poll Thursday, but the standings of his closest competitors are less certain.

An American Research Group survey released Thursday shows Romney in first place at 35%, the day after a poll from Suffolk University showed him at 38% in the Granite State.

Romney a grinch? Gingrich bemoans attacks during Christmas

(CNN) - The avalanche of negative campaign ads from Mitt Romney is wearing on rival Newt Gingrich, but he said Thursday he won't break his pledge to stay positive.

Speaking to Iowa Public Television, the former House speaker said the onslaught of vitriol coming from Romney headquarters jarred with the spirit of the holidays.

Paul's serious challenge in Iowa could rock the GOP race

(CNN) - What if Ron Paul rocked the political establishment, silenced the naysayers and spoiled the party for Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney by winning the Iowa caucuses?

Initial claims fall to lowest level since 2008

New York (CNNMoney) - Fewer Americans filed for their first week of unemployment benefits last week. So few in fact, that the number of initial claims fell to its lowest level since May 2008.

About 366,000 people filed initial jobless claims in the week ended Dec. 10, the Labor Department said Thursday. That was a decrease of 19,000 from the prior week.

(CNN) – Hours before the final GOP debate prior to the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses, Newt Gingrich is going up with the second TV ad of his Republican presidential campaign in the Hawkeye state.

In the 30-second spot, the former House speaker stays positive in message and takes on rival candidates who have attacked him on the campaign trail.

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) – Television show host and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee praised the four presidential candidates who made it a "priority" to attend the premiere of his anti-abortion film in Iowa.
