Obama calls for vote on payroll tax cut extension

(CNN) - President Barack Obama said Tuesday that a two-month extension passed by the Senate is the "only viable way" to prevent a tax increase on January 1, and he called on House Republicans to pass the plan supported by a majority of Senate Republicans.

He called on the House Republican leadership to hold an up-or-down vote on a Senate plan to extend the payroll tax cut for two months.

As a Democrat, I was beginning to worry about our chances in the next election. But then I remembered who our opponents will be. Its those guys who held up a middle-class tax break in order to protect millionaires and oil companies. I'm feeling much more confident now.

    Rick McDaniel says
Obama is a fraud, a liar, and a dictator. He is controlling everything in the government, the media, and the country, to have his way, with the citizens.

Oh Mr. McDaniel – I do believe you are talking about the GOP Teabaggers. Your President is doing everything he can to get the message out and yet the GOP wants you to pay higher taxes while protecting the rich and corporate. Now who's holding things up Mr. McDaniel? Look again.

Mr. Obama will get his 2nd term, and all the tea baggers who can be will be voted out next election cycle. We've seen what the GOP does and we don't like it.

More kicking the can down the road, bandaides rather than fixing the problem. More obstructing what the republicans are trying to do, i.e. give people jobs and fix the economy!!! But of course, his obstruction will not be mentioned, because, as we all know, there is one set of standards for liberals and a different set of standards for everyone else.

What was this total hypocrite Obama saying a few months back when they wanted to fund the government for a few months??? "no way to run a country", etc.??? NOW it seems to be OK because it is the Democrats holding the American people hostage by only continuing the tax cuts for 2 months. 2 months is worse than a joke! Democrats think they can manipulate EVERYTHING from day to day to suit their political needs. The needs of people and business trying to earn a living be dammed.

That the Problem Is there Is No Leadership In the House of Congress. He to big of a wimp to lead the house. John Boehner And Eric Cantor can't even agree with each other let along to get all the Republican to agree on something. The Republican In the House can't even agree with republican In the Senate. This Is what happen when you put Republican In Charge of anything.

Rick McDaniel states "Obama is a fraud, a liar, and a dictator"

No Rick, he is honest, he is not only a good president, but history will see him as a great President – in part because of the relentless opposition he will indeed overcome. He is not a dictator, rather he is the duly elected President of our country and his only fault is that as his back ground was that of community organizer, professor and he let a few Tea Tards in Congress walk all over him …. but he is learning.

You on the other hand are a liar and you spread hate... if you had any valid argument to make, you would make it, but because you do not, so you just speak dribble.

The Republicans continue to protect the millionaires against more taxes but have no problem using the 99 percent as pawns to get what they and their benefactors want

The payroll tax "cut" has absolutely noting to do with employers, dear Claire. The cut applies ONLY to the employee's portion of the tax, not the employers. So either your "boss" is pulling a fast one on you, or you're being less than honest in your post. Which one?

Thank-you for saving me the effort. Your logic is irrefutable.
Which one? To answer your question, I would say that Claire is a conservative. They do stuff like that all time.

"Please make an appointment with Speaker Boehner and travel to Capitol Hill this afternoon to resolve this."

Wrong. The Speaker comes to the POTUS, not the other way around. Boehner is the supplicant here, not Obama. The GOP has hanged itself with all the rope he's been giving them and, if they want to avoid blame and the fallout for taxes going up on the middle class, Boehner and the GOP need for Obama to tell Reid and the Senate to negotiate over it. Obama needs to do exactly what he's doing...take a position that this should be voted up or down and that he won't endorse negotiating wih the GOP on this. Enough is enough. The GOP has gone one ideological procedural game bridge too far and they know it. It was an act of desperation.

"Obama... he couldn't do anything. Except blow 4 million on a trip for his family."

Hey loser, the bulk of that is from the $181K PER HOUR that it costs to run Airforce One. Flight to Hawaii from DC is about 10 hours, so 20 hours round trip = $3.62M. Your talking point is completely bogus nonsense.

You gonna argue that POTUS shouldn't be in Airforce One whenever he flies or that presidents from Hawaii don't get to go home for vacation because it's too expensive?

  23. The Greedy Old PIgs have declared class war on US!

What a crock. Negotiations didn't work with the deficit reduction committee. Here's a better idea, Mr. Orangeman: how about you and your elitist bootlickers start paying attention to the US public! A huge majority wants an end to the tax cuts for the filthy rich and a new millionaire's surtax. More than half of the 1%ers agree with this as well. So now it is quite clear and obvious to all that your greedy little deathcult is bought and paid for by a hidden elite that is un-American and working against the better interests of our nation. That makes the GOBP a cowardly bunch of traitors.
