(CNN) - Which one's the pot and which one's the kettle is open to debate-but Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney are heading to their own version of a bake-off, one way or the other.
A kitchen analogy dominated heated rhetoric between the two Wednesday, which potentially came to a boil when Gingrich challenged Romney to go toe-to-toe next to the stove.
"If he wants to test the heat I will meet him anywhere in Iowa next week, one-on-one, 90 minutes, no moderator, just a timekeeper," Gingrich said at an event in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Earlier in the day Romney defended negative TV advertising, following Gingrich's calls for the former Massachusetts governor to denounce attacks ads funded by a super PAC that supports his candidacy
"If you can't stand the relatively modest heat in the kitchen right now, wait until Obama's Hell's Kitchen shows up," Romney said at a campaign stop in Keene, New Hampshire. "Obama's putting together a billion dollars. He's going to be attacking us day and night."
In response, Gingrich said he will happily go into the kitchen with Romney.
"Ask Gov. Romney, would he like to come and play in the kitchen? I don't think so," Gingrich said. "I don't think he wants to do anything except hide over here and pretend it isn't his fault that he is flooding the people of Iowa with falsehoods."
The former House speaker has steadily criticized Romney over negative advertising, a blitz of which were released on Gingrich ahead of the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses. Romney has pointed to campaign finance rules that prohibit his involvement in activities of super PACs while refusing to renounce negative advertising, as Gingrich has recently done.
As for Gingrich's debate challenge, a watched pot never boils.

Gov. Romney – you should make yourself available for the debate if Gingrich so wants – you will do absolutely fantastic. That's all Gingrich needs right now is big fat embarrassment before he goes down in flames.

Isn't it ironic to hear the man who raised negativity to a new art form complain when it is done to him?
They are both zany and so far out of touch with everday people that they would not know how to boil water in any kitchen, but they might be able to make each other toast and that would be the best thing to ever happen for the country.

Looks like Gingrich has been living in the kitchen.An important matter for election is the apparent health of a contender. Gingrich fails that in every category. His lifestyle ,practices of philandering [not any help healthwise] and diet habits all expell him from real consideration. After that is cured ,his lying and qyestionable money gathering is very high on the list. Newt go home you are already well known and are not likeable.

I'm starting to lean toward Gingrich; we already know his weaknesses, but he is clearly tough enough, smart enough, and conservative enough to win this election. Unlike Romney, we know what we're getting into with Gingrich, there's a lot more good than bad. He will also be able to win a debate with Obama.
I like Gingrich, I think the former house speaker , is been showing Principals , on how he will make a diference in The System of Majistration of Federal Court Ruling . I do Believe the public court need better support or representation to the public Civil matter . And this is the only man making his personal Public statements of Federal Judges of changes are need it . And right person who can battle President Obama . I don't Think all Mitt's millions of dllrs. Come on..Gingrich was never wanting the nomination . and he knew it. He just wants to make lots of money selling books and his wife's children;s book. He is a greedy and his wife is too. We should be so lucky if he did get it however because he would easily get beaten by Obama.
Romney should tell Newt. We have seen your Lincoln- Douglas debate w. Gain and Huntsman and it is a waste of time...Is that the kitchen you are talking about? It's more like a honeymoon suite at a hotel!!!
Gingrich thinks that he such a good debator. The problem is that he has many false premises. I am not saying he is total wrong, but he needs to check his foundation because his arguements built on faulty foundations fall apart.

I think the best thing that could happen would be if romney and gingrich would have a debate next week in iowa. Tell mitt to put up or shut up. I voted for the independent party last time and am leaning towards third party gain. These debates have shown how far from the main stream of life they our. They all will give us a better life if they win; but that was what the guy said who won the last time and i sure do not see it. They have all had past glories,but that was in a different time in our history.
This is American politics driven by too much money and a media that loves this kind of infighting.

Newt Gingrich has been fighting for conservative values for years and has produced results! We can see that as he has taken command of the debates.. No one on that stage can compete. Support Gingrich.. He has what it takes to debate Mr. Obama and win!
