(CNN) - Rick Santorum is upping the ante in Iowa with a new "Pop Up Video" TV commercial stressing his family values and highlighting the praise of high profile social conservatives.
The spot, fashioned like a VH1 video, tells his personal and professional history through text bubbles superimposed on footage of the Republican presidential candidate with his family.

"Rick Santorum. Karen Santorum. Have been married 21 years," the ad says in text. "All the Santorum children were homeschooled … Rick coached little league baseball."
It also touts the former Pennsylvania senator's legislative accomplishments, including his role in writing a law that ended partial birth abortions.
"Mike Huckabee said he '… loves Rick Santorum's conviction,'" the ad says referring to the 2008 Republican winner of the Iowa caucuses. "Sarah Palin praised Rick for 'protecting the sanctity of life.'"
The 60-second commercial is scheduled to run statewide next week in the Hawkeye State ahead of the Jan. 3 first-in-the-nation caucuses. Santorum has focused much of his efforts in Iowa, hoping his history of social conservatism and personal narrative resonates with voters in the state. However, he has failed to reach double digits in national and state-wide polls.
News of the ad was first reported by Politico.

The problem with most home schooled children is that their teachers are usually fundamentalist wack jobs that think the world is flat and only 6,000 years old.
Santorum's kids went to cyber school at the expense of Penn Hills school district outside of Pittsburgh PA while he lived in Virginia. He never lived there.
Can someone please send this man a campaign contribution?
Will you look at the quality of this picture? Heads cut off, captioning over the kids faces.
Homeschooled? Looks like somebody was indulging in some HOMEGROWN!
Know what I mean?! (wink!).
he deceived a struggling school district in Pennsylvania into to paying $100,000 for cyber-school tuition for his five children – even while they were living in a well-off school district in Virginia.
All home schooled so that we can control the information they receive, make sure they do not learn to think for themselves, or question authority, limit their exposure to the world and new ideas and, most importantly, limit the people they associate with, all reflecting a residue of sentiments from the 50s and 60s when the federal Government came in and made local Governments integrate kids into schools and also, furthering support for the Knoc brothers agenda of destroying the public education system.
Yeah, hes sooooo out of touch with the rest of the country. Just what we need another "I know how you should live " republican in Washington. Haven't you guys done enough damage to this country already?
Rudy you're right.
How the hell is advertising the fact that your kids were homeschooled supposed to make you appear to be like the average American?
I admire the dedication that it takes to properly homeschool your children, but it is still the exception not the rule.
The average American family cannot afford to stay home and home school, mom and dad both HAVE TO work.
>Is it a merit homeschooling children??? It is mostly brainwashing, not allowing your kids being exposed to life.
Yes, much better to send them to public school where they'll be indoctrinated in leftist union ideology, dragged to union protests to be used as tools and graduate without knowing how to read or do basic math.
Nothing like showing you are in touch with the American people than choosing a gimmick based on something popular more than a decade ago. Pop-up videos? Really? Sorry, nobody cares about it anymore, even with VH1 bringing it back.
Santorum has as small a chance as he had in holding onto his Senate seat.
Pop up video? It appears the Christian right has finally entered the 90's, only 20 years behind on nearly ever social issue!
The ad says that Santorum didn't homeschool his dog ... I'm sure this lame attempt at humor will attract many voters ...
If a resume came across my desk that included coaching little league as an accomplishment, it would go right in the recycle bin. How is that a valuable skill for any job, let alone leader of the free world?
Dear GOP, please raise your standards or accept the consequences. If you want a better president, produce better candidates. I have yet to see any GOP candidate offer evidence that they are a better decision maker than President Obama.
Obama 2012
How do you get "santorum" out of bedsheets? "homskooled"? Kool! No doubt the kids have great social skills with other like minded kids who learned from Fox News.
home schooled so they would not google their last name
The military is a rude awakening for home-schooled individuals. We don't allow our Soldiers to learn "freestyle" and do expect them to listen to our training in the order we offer it. Your butt stays in the chair until we tell you to move. We fill our classrooms with a wide diversity of people from every social and ethnic background. The science and technology we teach is not subject to Biblical revision and you will respect the rights and religious beliefs of your fellow Soldiers. I've seen home-schooled people fail in this environment.
His family looks happy; I'm glad he was faithful to his wife and coaches kids. However, the President has to deal with regimes around the world that are not Christian, and sometimes just plain evil. This requires you sometimes put your personal moral code on hold and make some difficult compromises. I wouldn't ask any devout Christian to make such sacrifices.
SO, DOES THAT MAKE THEM AS SMART AS RON??? How about the school that has lost revenue because of a home schooled child. I have been around home schooled children (five grandchildren). They are not any smarter than any other. In fact most of their schooling was done watching videos!!!!
Man, what the heck is up with this freak? Let's just see how this plays out in the hands of the voters. Maybe he can open a Religious Nut Car Wash or something later on. "Soap suds for Jesus!"
Oops!!! As Rickl Perry would say! I mentioned Ron, but should be RICK!
If Huckabee endorses Santorum, run for your life Rick. The same former AR gov. who invited illegals to our State and gave them free state bldg for the headquarters and free OB/GYN clinic for their ladies. Sounds like Santorum doesn't even like public education, will he shut it down like Ron Paul?
Gee, libtards really do hate to see nice normal families. I guess your childhoods were a mess with dysfunctional families. Please try not to take out all your resent and hatred on others. It is not good for your mental well-being.
Homeschooling is always a red flag. It limits social exposure and new ideas. It's a wonderful way to make sure that your children won't be any smarter than you. It's also a great way to keep a wife isolated in the home. Find a religious or private school that meets your philosophy.
Afriend and his wife homeschool their kids. Neither has a college education, and they wear blinders to how baackward their children really are. Their only friends are their parents.
