Influential guest to join Santorum on campaign hunt

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - An influential conservative Republican congressman in the Hawkeye State will join GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum at a campaign event Monday.

Rep. Steve King will team up the former senator from Pennsylvania at a pheasant hunt in Adel, Iowa, a source with knowledge of the event confirms to CNN.

The five-term congressman, considered by many to be a kingmaker in Iowa Republican circles, has said he may not endorse a candidate before the January 3 caucuses, which kick off the primary and caucus calendar. King represents parts of heavily Republican Northwest Iowa.

In the autumn, King went hunting separately with Santorum, and with another GOP White House hopeful, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas.

With eight days to go until the caucuses, Santorum is the only major GOP candidate campaigning on Monday, which is a federal holiday. Santorum, who polls in the single digits in Iowa and in national surveys, last week won the personal endorsement of Bob Vander Plaats, a prominent social conservative leader in the state.

makes no difference obama is finished and so are many of the legislators who are pushing these moronic unemployment welfare extensions and pirating of the SS funds. The voter spoke last fall and these leftist did not listen...its bankrupt the country to buy votes...this will stop. Both of the parties are corrupted beyond fixing, the only thing we can do is get these people out of office... we voters are sadly near helplessness.

The importance of Iowa is greatly exaggerated. What happens in Iowa is gonna stay in Iowa.

A pheasant hunt for a campaign event? Sounds like they're going to Doc's Hunt Club for some released bird shooting. Since it's a private establishment, they won't have to worry about any of those pesky game laws like licenses or limits. Released bird shooting is not hunting, it's a turkey shoot. Ironically, it'll be a turkey shoot for the press as well.

    Wonder if they invited Cheney?

    Jerry -

Can't wait to hear all you right-wingers' heads explode in unison when Obama wins re-election, and then when Elizabeth Warren becomes the first female President to serve two terms after Obama.

Donkey Party and others: Just don't get complacent; the GOP is doing everything it can to disenfranchise voters, from requiring government ID where none was required before, to moving up voter registration dates to keep college students from voting.

All you Dems, Independents and thinking Republicans need to be sure to GET OUT AND VOTE on November 6, 2012 for President Obama and Democratic majorities in the House and Senate!

I won't allow the dirty tricks GOBP to stop my vote. I will go to our state clerk's office to vote early for our great President Obama , just like I did for the last landslide win.

So one narrow-minded, self-righteous, bigoted, neo-con is going hunting with another narrow-minded, self-righteous, bigoted, neo-con. Why does that matter?

Since CNN is prone to typos appearing in their stories, it's valid to ask... Did they really meant "pheasant hunt?" Or was it supposed to be "peasant hunt?"
