Callista Gingrich makes rare campaign remarks

Decorah, Iowa (CNN) - It was a rare sight, but Callista Gingrich, wife of GOP hopeful Newt Gingrich, stepped in front of the microphone to introduce her "husband and best friend" at a pizzeria Tuesday.

As much as the former House speaker boasts of his wife's involvement in his campaign, she rarely speaks on the record or at campaign events. She is a familiar face on the campaign trail and at book signings, often standing next her husband at the podium, but she rarely takes center stage herself.

Callista Gingrich, who attended Luther College, chose to make the final stop in Tuesday's Iowa campaign swing in the college town to introduce her husband at Mabe's Pizza.

She shared some of her personal history with a packed room in the basement of the legendary pizza restaurant.

"One little known fact is that I actually lived upstairs above Mabe's Pizza as a senior, so Mabe's is very special to me," she said.

She quickly moved on to tout her husband's credentials.

"A lot of people ask me why Newt would be a good president, and I really think that Newt has been preparing for this challenge his entire life," she said in Decorah.

"He has a proven record of national leadership, a thorough understanding of our nation's history and a genuine love for our country, and I believe he is the best person to lead our country."

    Get over it..

    How desperate do you have to be, to be a NEWT GINGRICH apologist?

    Calista truly bolsters the long standing conspiracy theory that a race of alien lizard people have taken over the GOP. She's a very plastic looking little homewrecker, That is for sure.

    Newt is smart, wise and no-nonsense. For these reasons I will vote for him. Unfortunately, when Newt is President, the temperature in the White House will drop 50 degrees as soon as Callista, the Ice Queen makes her entrance.

    Really classy. Such fine upstanding American citizens exhibiting good behavior and manners.
    Oops, that's right. This is ONLINE where you can be as rude, shallow, petty, and vituperative with no consequence.
    And I am not even a Gingrich supporter, but you folks are living on a middle school social level!

    a party that fervently runs on personal morals and family values
    ==================================================
    Yes, never heard ANY Democrats do this, just use their families as props without mouthing the words. So are you saying the Democrats disavow morals and familiy values since they don't fervently run on them? Can we expect Obama to get up there and say that morals and family values mean NOTHING to the Democrat Party? I mean, Blagovitch, Rangel, Waters, Frank, Bill Clinton and on and on are just models of ethical behavior! Certainly the voters have come to expect NOTHING in the way of Democrat morals.

    It's so nice to see these two "christian conservatives" (who committed adultery, fraud and ethics violations)...show the country what exactly a true representation of the GOP's moral christian values really are.

    It is not the "liberals" that are trying to pass laws to insert themselves into people's bedrooms, hospital rooms, places of worship and the reproductive organs of women.
    ==============================================================================================
    Bedrooms? Liberals redefined marriage!

    Hospital rooms? Liberals passed Obamacare!

    Places of worship? Liberals attack religion every chance they get!

    Reproductive organs? The organs are yours, but the life within them is not yours to murder at will. Abortion is NOT birth control!!

    "I really think that Newt has been preparing for this challenge his entire life,"

    Of course, he've prepared it long before he married you-the third time, that was the reason he divorced his first wife b/c he said to her that she was "too old" to be a president's wife. Got it!

    You don't get it. We know that he has admitted his transgressions. It was Gingrich who said that if you commit certain types of actions, then you are unfit to be President. That was his whole argument behind the push to impeach Clinton. And now, Newt is going to not only ask forgiveness for cheating on his wife, but he also wants us to forgive and forget the reasons why he tried to impeach a sitting President. The fact that some conservatives see nothing wrong with that is what is wrong with conservatives.

    First of all, religious "moral values" have no place in our government. It has been conservatives who pushed for the Defense of Marriage Act, and are no pushing for constitutional amendment to "redefine marriage" as exclusively between a man and a woman.

    It has been conservatives who have pushed for stricter abortion laws. Obamacare is a myth that doesn't exist. Even I'm scared of it, which makes me even happier that it does not really exist. Death panels, HA. Government takeover, HA.

    How many "Sharia Law" resolutions and bills have there been around the country and who wrote them? Too many to count, and they were all written by Republicans who were usually TEA party members.

    If Callista Gingrich thought marriage between a man and a woman was sacred she would not have had sex with Newt while he was married to his previous wife and if Newt thought it then he wouldn't have cheated on two different wives.

    Anyone who equates not getting on the ballot in Virginia with the events of December 7, 1941 does not genuinely love America. He loves himself more. And that is the problem with our candidates. It's not about what they can do to improve the country as a whole but what's in it for them at the end of their term.
