Callista Gingrich makes rare campaign remarks

Decorah, Iowa (CNN) - It was a rare sight, but Callista Gingrich, wife of GOP hopeful Newt Gingrich, stepped in front of the microphone to introduce her "husband and best friend" at a pizzeria Tuesday.

As much as the former House speaker boasts of his wife's involvement in his campaign, she rarely speaks on the record or at campaign events. She is a familiar face on the campaign trail and at book signings, often standing next her husband at the podium, but she rarely takes center stage herself.

Callista Gingrich, who attended Luther College, chose to make the final stop in Tuesday's Iowa campaign swing in the college town to introduce her husband at Mabe's Pizza.

She shared some of her personal history with a packed room in the basement of the legendary pizza restaurant.

"One little known fact is that I actually lived upstairs above Mabe's Pizza as a senior, so Mabe's is very special to me," she said.

She quickly moved on to tout her husband's credentials.

"A lot of people ask me why Newt would be a good president, and I really think that Newt has been preparing for this challenge his entire life," she said in Decorah.

"He has a proven record of national leadership, a thorough understanding of our nation's history and a genuine love for our country, and I believe he is the best person to lead our country."

She just looks, like.....not a really good person. I don't get a warm feel from her. She just strikes me as a plastic, shallow person. Selfish and hypocritical as well....remember this was the woman having an affair with a married man who was railing against Clinton for being a cheater.
-Registered Republican, former Democrat – sickened after 08, who will vote Republican if Romney or Huntsman is the nominee (and no, I am not Mormon – they are just the two most sane candidates [ironically])

A wife would never say anything bad about their spouse.

When she shared "some of her personal history", did she leave off the part about getting involved with Newt when she knew that he was married? I'm sure that she did. Since the best indicator of someone's performance is what he did in the past, be very afraid, Calista.

Well scripted there Callista. Actually the correct rebuttal to that would be none of the above.
If you're going to say something, make it profound... not something any other wife would spout.

Third wives often stand right by their men everywhere the men go, because they want to keep an eye on him and they mistakenly think that if others always see them together, there will never be a fourth wife.

His wife said of "Newt the Hoot" , "He has a proven record of national leadership, a thorough understanding of our nation's history and a genuine love for our country, and I believe he is the best person to lead our country."

I say Newt also has a genuine love for women too. Well at least three (3) of them anyway hehehe. I wonder who will be his next woman.

Just the idea that a woman like her could represent all women in the U.S. is unbelievable. Nothing like having a woman who destroyed other families to be the representative of the "Family Values" party.

Of course she's saying nice things about Newt, she doesn't want to be the next EX. Gingrich discards those who are not useful to his ambition.

Callista, you may be the third wife and the second mistress, but you'll never be the first lady.

Of course she's a familiar face on the campaign trail, as this third wife, second who 'connected' with the married Representative while employed as a staffer, she knows not to leave Newt on his own.

This Is the Woman that he cheated with on wife Number two. That would make her word real good. And wife number two was dying with cancer at the time. So you shouldn't think to much of this woman and even less about Newt Gingrich.
