Callista Gingrich makes rare campaign remarks

Decorah, Iowa (CNN) - It was a rare sight, but Callista Gingrich, wife of GOP hopeful Newt Gingrich, stepped in front of the microphone to introduce her "husband and best friend" at a pizzeria Tuesday.

As much as the former House speaker boasts of his wife's involvement in his campaign, she rarely speaks on the record or at campaign events. She is a familiar face on the campaign trail and at book signings, often standing next her husband at the podium, but she rarely takes center stage herself.

Callista Gingrich, who attended Luther College, chose to make the final stop in Tuesday's Iowa campaign swing in the college town to introduce her husband at Mabe's Pizza.

She shared some of her personal history with a packed room in the basement of the legendary pizza restaurant.

"One little known fact is that I actually lived upstairs above Mabe's Pizza as a senior, so Mabe's is very special to me," she said.

She quickly moved on to tout her husband's credentials.

"A lot of people ask me why Newt would be a good president, and I really think that Newt has been preparing for this challenge his entire life," she said in Decorah.

"He has a proven record of national leadership, a thorough understanding of our nation's history and a genuine love for our country, and I believe he is the best person to lead our country."

Coming from a woman who runs around with married men for a payday and Tiffany's, I am underwhelmed.

Yes, he certainly has been preparing. All that stress, all those women because of the stress. As far as the historian part . . . . . comparing the attack on Pearl Harbor to his little idiosyncracies is certainly one historical fact I would rather to forget about the fat wind bag.

It's good to see Callista has her bulletproof wig on, that hair don't move in 60 mph winds ! Newt is doing Obama a favor if he gets all negative on Mitts, there is a chest full of flip flops and job killing strategies in Romneys past that Newt can pounce on and help out Obama.

Don't think it's very smart of Newt to put Calli out front. She is a HUGE part of his negative baggage. She is nothing but a classy, Tiffany-jeweled bimbo...and that's a kind description of her.

She's the real power in the Gingrich house. Newt does whatever she says..otherwise she cuts off the money. Wonder how long it will be before he dumps her for some younger hottie?

The entire world knows that this woman cheated with a married man. Now she seriously wants us to consider her as a possible first lady? Have we gone mad?

Sure, cheat with a married man and claim that same sex marriage destroys the sanctity of marriage.

Is it really any wonder that Newt Gingrich thinks that he is the "king of politics" and feels that it is his destiny to become President of the United States? After all, with a wife named "Mrs. Newt Gingrich the Third" he should feel that way.

Come on folks, put your prejudice aside and get behind a winner. She seems humble and sincere and would make a great first lady. Learn how to love and forget how to hate.
