Callista Gingrich makes rare campaign remarks

Decorah, Iowa (CNN) - It was a rare sight, but Callista Gingrich, wife of GOP hopeful Newt Gingrich, stepped in front of the microphone to introduce her "husband and best friend" at a pizzeria Tuesday.

As much as the former House speaker boasts of his wife's involvement in his campaign, she rarely speaks on the record or at campaign events. She is a familiar face on the campaign trail and at book signings, often standing next her husband at the podium, but she rarely takes center stage herself.

Callista Gingrich, who attended Luther College, chose to make the final stop in Tuesday's Iowa campaign swing in the college town to introduce her husband at Mabe's Pizza.

She shared some of her personal history with a packed room in the basement of the legendary pizza restaurant.

"One little known fact is that I actually lived upstairs above Mabe's Pizza as a senior, so Mabe's is very special to me," she said.

She quickly moved on to tout her husband's credentials.

"A lot of people ask me why Newt would be a good president, and I really think that Newt has been preparing for this challenge his entire life," she said in Decorah.

"He has a proven record of national leadership, a thorough understanding of our nation's history and a genuine love for our country, and I believe he is the best person to lead our country."

If Newt had a proven record of leadership then the '98 GOP House & Senate wouldnt have told him to resign 3 days after he was reelected Sen of Ga. It was Clinton not Gingrich that gave this country its only surplus as well as saved us from the failed Reagan/Bush financial policies. Afterall the economy flourished after Gingrich resigned in disgrace then nose dived when Dubya was selected (not elected) POTUS. You know Newt has zero cred when he has to get his wife to pinch hit for him, I mean c'mon who besides Newt uses their wifes opinion as a job reference. Loser then loser now, Next........

I guess some people are impressed by the typical repukeblicans who considers all his moral and religious values to be "negotiable." A55wipes attract! :)

SOUTHERN HOTTIE - The epitome of family values the Gingriches are.

What do liberals know about family values? They don't know the meaning of family OR value!

Oh. I'm not having such a good week, am I? Nope, I am not.
You ended my undefeated season in the final week, the championship game.

Do us all a favor and go whine else where...FOX NOISE perhaps. Mr. Gingrich met his current wife whilst married to another and thereby his morals and hers are in question. Get it?

Gengrich is going to "round up all the judges that make bad decisions and make them testify before the Congress." Will the judges that handled his first two divorces be one of those judges rounded up? Notice he uses the phrase "round up." Rounding up those who peacefully disagree with the leader of the country is something you would find in Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union or a banana republic, not America. Megan McCain’s, John McCain’s daughter, claims Gengrich is running for “dictator.”

Political power and money is a strong aphrodisiac. That's the only thing women could have seen in this blob of a body.

This wasn't an introduction, it was damage control.

Ane the reason she looks so scary is that she looks like Newt. Probably what attracted him in the first place.

It is very difficult to imagine Callista as the first adultress Lady in the white house. If Newt was planning to run for President all his life, I really don't think leaving his wives for other women would be on the agenda.

Does she have to look so 50’s Republican? She always looks absolutely starched, like she fell into a pool of hairspray. Her unfortunate style habits aside, this woman could be Mother Teresa but she will always be “the mistress” the “trollop” and a homewrecker. True, she wasn’t the one who broke her marital vows but in the climb out of his bed and to the top, she didn’t seem to care much about them either. Sorry, lady, no respect for you as a person and along with that greasy pig you are married to, will likely never see the inside of the White House without a tour ticket. You should have made a better choice if you were going to sleep around.

She is a reminder of who he really is and to allow her to take questions would subject her and the campaign to scrutiny it does not want.

This old, "catholic" adulteress and geriatric plastic-bimbo would do better to the world by going away and shut up

Yep. They can’t “forgive” Romney for being a Mormon but seem more than happy to overlook a serial adulterer and a candidate who sold them out for some cash.

Well, Holleye, actually, it was. In yesterday’s piece on Gingrich’s divorce, he was quoted as saying that his current wife was not young enough or pretty enough to be First Lady. He’s been working on this for awhile. And what does she get in return? A greasy pig.

Did question Bill Clinton's morals when he was getting hummers in the Oval Office from Whitehouse interns?

Did you question Barney Frank's morals when his boyfriend was running a gay prostitution ring out of their home?

    Yeah, didn't think so....

The Scientologists have some weird theory about how lizard people populated this planet. After seeing Callista that theory no longer seems so outlandish. She seems to be closer to her roots than most and here she is, a few short steps away from ruling over the world! By the way, if Newt thought that his first wife wasn't young enough or pretty enough, he must have flip flopped on that belief too, or he's due for another trade in.

Fair is Fair is just showing her behind. Out of desperation, she reaches for the 12 year old Clinton saga in a rush for some kind of schoolyard retribution because she can’t defend the fact that Gingrich is a hoser and soon, a loser. High blood pressure for liberals? Nah, Fair. We all know where this is gonna go and it has been a pathetic, albeit comedic thing to watch.
