The Tim Tebow caucus?

Waterloo, Iowa (CNN) - As the Republican candidates jostle for position in Iowa, one national figure seems to have locked up widespread support: Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.

Tebow is known for his overt piety - he wrote Bible verses on the eyeblack he wore during college football games - and his faith makes him a popular figure among GOP candidates and conservative voters alike.

Dubuque, Iowa (CNN) - Rick Santorum avoided mentioning his latest poll results at an Iowa town hall Wednesday, but the GOP hopeful's campaign staff and supporters appeared charged by the figures.

Discussion at the event swirled around the CNN/Time/ORC International poll that showed Santorum rallying to third place in the state.

Perry modifies abortion stance for 'mother's life' exception

(CNN) - A day after announcing his position on abortion had undergone a "transformation," Texas Gov. Rick Perry clarified that he would make an exception if a mother's life was in danger.

On Tuesday, the Republican presidential candidate told a crowd in Iowa that he had toughened his stance on abortion after viewing a documentary produced by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Perry said he had changed his position to oppose abortion, even in cases of rape or incest.

High-profile Bachmann backer deals blow to her Iowa campaign, endorses Paul

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - One of Michele Bachmann's most high-profile advisers in Iowa announced Wednesday he is pulling his support away from the Republican presidential candidate.

Instead, Iowa State Sen. Kent Sorenson announced at a Ron Paul rally that he now supports the Texas congressman. Sorenson - who had been frequently seen by Bachmann's side and who had frequently spoken in her defense - appeared to surprise the crowd of a few hundred Paul supporters with his announcement.

Survey says Latino voters sticking with Obama, Democrats

Washington (CNN) – Latino voters strongly support President Barack Obama and his Democratic Party, despite dissatisfaction with the administration's deportation policies, according to a survey released Wednesday by the Pew Hispanic Center.

The results are good news for Obama and Democrats for next year's election, as Hispanics are the fastest-growing population group in the country and comprise a major voting bloc.

Paul declines to respond to rivals' sharp criticism

West Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - Despite a steady flow of harsh swipes against him, Ron Paul declined to respond on Wednesday to those comments from his fellow Republican presidential rivals.

"Would you like to respond to Newt Gingrich's attacks," a reporter pressed Paul after an appearance at the GuideOne Insurance headquarters in West Des Moines. Other reporters, surrounding Paul, also pressed the Texas congressman about criticisms from rivals.

Florida debate gets venue

(CNN) – A GOP candidates' debate slated just days ahead of Florida's primary has found a home: the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.

CNN is co-sponsoring the January 26 event with the Republican Party of Florida and the Hispanic Leadership Network. Florida voters will head to the polls January 31.

Clinton, Iowa (CNN) - As he visited an overflow room at his third packed event in Iowa in two days, Mitt Romney proclaimed himself a little dazzled by the turnout.

"What a crowd! What a welcome!" he exclaimed. "I'm delighted to be here and see your enthusiasm."

Bachmann touts Washington experience while stressing 'outsider' status

Creston, Iowa (CNN) - Michele Bachmann stressed her national security credentials Wednesday, as she offered sharp criticisms of her opponents over that issue and the issue of foreign policy in general.

The three term Republican congresswoman from Minnesota touted her Washington credentials but at the same stop repeated her mantra that she's as an outsider and "doesn't even know how to be" a politician.
