Gingrich: That’s B-O-L-O-G-N-A!

(CNN) -Newt Gingrich said high unemployment isn't just malarkey, its bologna.

In a new Iowa ad released late Tuesday, the former House speaker demands public pushback to political rhetoric on jobs.

"If you hear high unemployment is our new normal, just say bologna!" he says directly to the camera in a 30-second spot airing statewide.

Gingrich outlines his strategy to "create millions of jobs" by "repealing laws that raise taxes and strangle business," cutting taxes, and "unleashing the power of our energy industry" in what the campaign describes as a "major ad buy."

The latest on-air effort to keep his campaign "positive," Gingrich's message reaches out to Iowa voters six days before the first presidential nominating contest takes place in the state and will run through the caucuses.

Full ad transcript as follows:

If you hear high unemployment is our new normal, just say bologna!

We can create millions of jobs right now.

My plan includes repealing laws that raise taxes and strangle business.

Cutting taxes so America is once again the best place to invest and create jobs.

And unleashing the power of our energy industry.

That's just a start. Working together, we can rebuild the America we love and get people working again. I'm Newt Gingrich and I approve this message.

I would believe him if it were not for the fact that we lost 8 million jobs over the course of three years, and another 8 million manufacturing jobs lost due to the 50,000 plants that closed over the past decade. Combine that with the fact that Mr. Gingrich cannot tell you where these jobs will come from, I will say that Mr. Gingrich is in denial. Since Mr. Gingrich probably believes what his own job creation claim, I cannot call him a liar but I can call him delusional.

As long as republicans control the house and can filibuster the senate, higher unemployment will be the norm.

Cutting taxes and deregulation? Why hasn't some one thought of that before? Oh, I know. Because it's the very same policy THAT GOT US INTO THE CURRENT MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! The GOP is completely worthless.

Cutting taxes on big business who will send jobs overseas to people making a buck an hour and pocket the difference.
"Unleashing the power of our energy industry". Translation: Letting Big Oil run rampant, exporting instead of supplying US consumers, drilling all over the place with little regulation, and raking in record profits while standing in the way of any alternative energy progress.

The energy industry in the USA has been oppressed and nearly destroyed by the liberals and Democrats for decades. Their insane cap and trade BS would have completely killed it. It has driven us into a dependence on foreign oil. This country has huge reserves that need to be opened up and developed. Enough of this green energy farce. We're now finding out the compact flourescent light bulbs they want to force us to are exploding and catching fire! Wonderful, save a tree, burn a house and maybe an entire family.

Same old speech by Republicans. Same.same.same. When will they notice that cutting taxes on the rich and corporations doesn't = jobs? They still want to break the backs of the middle class by taxing it to death.

That message is a bunch of bologna. Repealing legislation against Wall Street so they can run amuck again is not a solution. Unleashing the power of our energy sector sounds more like drill baby drill to me. The Gulf Coast still hasn't fully recovered and these imbicillic morons still want to drill. Now they want that Keystone pipeline so they can claim that they're attempting to create jobs but the President is blocking them. Apparently they have no regard for the well being of the environment. On top of that, Newton Leroy McPherson wants to cut taxes for the wealthy. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. He obviously doesn't comprehend the message that OWS is sending around the world. WE WANT EQUALITY & EVERYONE TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE!!!

Typical Republican bologna. Cutting taxes on the wealthy and corporations has never, EVER created jobs. The economy will improve when consumer demand increases which will not happen until we increase the buying power of the middle class by cutting THEIR taxes. Cutting taxes for the wealthy and the corporations makes them wealthier and does not improve the economy one iota or create any new jobs.
"Unleash the power of our energy industry", why? aren't they powerful enough already? Let them drill wherever they want and who do you think will pay for their research? And our cities will have air pollution worse than Mexico City's. And our waterways will me more polluted than China's.
So go ahead. Vote Republican and watch them continue the destruction of America that Bush started.

Newt is giving bologna a bad name. His formula for creating employment has been tried many times and has resulted in lots of jobs overseas. In effect, he wants the American worker to work for the same wages as the Chinese worker and have the same standard of living.

This "news article" is nothing more than reposting a political ad for Gingrich. While I'd love to see him in the general election, this is pathetic.

I don't know what world Newt Gingrich inhabits, but it is not the world of reality. Tax cutting and re-regulation to the benefit of big business is what got us into this mess. We simply cannot survive another round of it. He is such a hypocrite; worse, he is such a stupid hypocrite if he does not, or will not, recall what has created our problems in the past. REPUBLICAN B.S. and chicanery. Remember Newt?

Rebecca Stuart should be fired immediately. She completely changed what Newt said into the opposite meaning. Newt said high unemployment is not here to stay. He did not say we do not have high unemployment. This is yellow journalism to the max.

Reaganomics? Does that mean you intend on unleashing a new form of cocaine in urban communities? Because that's sure what the hell Raegan did. We got CRACK from Raegan!! Let me guess Newton; you're going to flood the streets with smokable heroin enabling low income people to become drug dealers. I wouldn't put it pass you. You've already insisted on kids being janitors. Take that professorial bs elsewhere.

REALLY, please explain record profits from all the oil companies the past couple of decades? That doesn't sound like they are "oppressed and destroyed" to me. Also, wake up and educate yourself. ANY oil we produce in the US must go on the open market and sold internationally, we don't get to keep all to ourselves.

The problem is that no one is thinking that the can be the business to help companies comply with the current and future regulations. The idea is this consulting group can show the way to get things done and work around the rules as needed. The rules are there to help keep the air clean. Without that and worker safety rules, we are no better than China.

He has no idea of what the unemployed people of this country look like. It kills me to hear all of this nonsense. Get the jobs back in America by penalizing companies who get to take their work elsewhere in the world. Those Corporations and Wall Streeters need to pay their fair share in taxes, just like the middle class is getting smacked with.

Nothing but the Truth!? Are you kidding? So ANY concern for the environment is stupid? ANY profit that can be gained from increased pollution is ok? The energy industry has been oppressed and nearly destroyed? So you can willfully ignore record profits, while they still enjoy massive tax breaks? Keep drinking the Gingrich Kool-aid 'truth' but please spare us the same inane rant. We've heard it for years and it's nothing but noise.

Admiral, there be lies up there.

Truth be told, the energy industry is one the most profitable in the world. Isn't Exxon *the* most profitable corporation in the world. The energy industry are so profitable because Republican administrations have turned a blind eye on them for the past 4 decades. The past decade saw some of the worst neglect in our history, which resulted in the worse industrial accidents in our history ranging from oil rigs to coal mines.

Every Republican administration has overseen a signficant increase on our dependence on foreign oil over the same time period. "Truth", and other radical conservatives, would have you believe that we suddently became overly dependent on foreign oil when Barack Obama got the nomination in 2008. "Drill, baby, drill." Conservatives have been crying for more oil exploration without any regard for safety and the environment for decades.

This country less than 2% of the world's energy reserves. Conservatives are whining about deposits in international waters, which would go onto the world market where we would compete with India and China for it. China's oil consumption has grown a staggering 300% over the last decade. We need to find alternative forms of energy, and fast. China leads the world in green energy manufacturing.
