Washington (CNN) - One of the most outspoken liberals in Congress filed papers Wednesday to try to keep his House seat.
For Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, that means challenging fellow Democrat Marcy Kaptur – the longest serving woman in the House of Representatives.
Due to redistricting, Ohio is losing two congressional seats next year. Kucinich's 10th congressional district is disappearing and merging with Kaptur's 9th district.
Kucinich has been openly exploring running again in other districts. Settling on challenging Kaptur pits two veteran Ohio House Democrats against one another.
In a fundraising email to supporters Wednesday, Kucinich claims to have helped "save and/or create thousands of jobs" in Ohio and also touted the anti-war efforts that he is most known for nationally.
"And I will continue to seek peace and reform. While wars continue to break out, America must resist the impulse to join in the carnage. We must stop spending money on war," said Kucinich.
