Romney touts patriotism as caucus nears

Waterloo, Iowa (CNN) - As he tops the GOP field heading into the Iowa caucuses, Mitt Romney offered his closing message to voters in the state with a television ad highlighting his patriotism.

The 60-second spot, titled "Freedom and Opportunity," featured sweeping images of cornfields and Americana.

Pro-Romney group launches new attack ad on Gingrich

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - An independent group that supports Mitt Romney's bid for the GOP presidential nomination says it's going up with a TV commercial that highlights what it calls the many mistakes made by rival Republican candidate Newt Gingrich.

Restore Our Future, a Super PAC that backs the former Massachusetts governor, tells CNN that the new 30-second spot will run statewide starting Thursday in Iowa. The state's January 3 caucuses kick off the presidential primary and caucus calendar.

A new survey of people likely to attend Iowa's Republican caucuses indicates that the former House speaker's support in the Hawkeye State is plunging. And according to a CNN/Time/ORC International Poll, one-time long shot candidate Rick Santorum has more than tripled his support since the beginning of the month.

CNN: Survey says Latino voters sticking with Obama, Democrats
Latino voters strongly support President Barack Obama and his Democratic Party, despite dissatisfaction with the administration's deportation policies, according to a survey released Wednesday by the Pew Hispanic Center.

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - With five days to go until the caucuses, a new poll is really shaking things up in Iowa.

Six of the major Republican presidential candidates are barnstorming across Iowa on Thursday against a changing political landscape - a CNN/Time/ORC International poll released Wednesday showed support plunging for former House Speaker and onetime front-runner Newt Gingrich while onetime long shot Rick Santorum surged into the top three.

Gingrich holds onto debt as fundraising spikes

Spencer, Iowa (CNN) – Newt Gingrich has raised an estimated $9 million over the last three months but the GOP presidential candidate will carry over some of his $1.2 million debt into the new year, his campaign said.

Gingrich Press Secretary R.C. Hammond said the fourth quarter FEC report, which covers October 1 to December 31 and is due next month, will “reflect that we still have some of the existing debt obligations, but we will also in the same report have a positive balance and cash on hand.”
