Santorum launches new radio ad after Iowa bump

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - Rick Santorum is aiming to capitalize on his fresh bump in the polls with a new radio ad set to air statewide in Iowa.

It's Santorum's first paid media effort in Iowa since a CNN/TIME/ORC International poll released Wednesday showed the conservative former Senator leaping into third place among Republicans ahead of next Tuesday's caucuses.

Listen to the audio here.

The minute-long spot, titled "Best Chance," argues that Santorum is most electable candidate in the Republican field because he is "a full spectrum conservative" with "more foreign policy credentials than any of the candidates" - a claim that former Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman is likely to quibble with.

"Rock solid on value issues like life, marriage and the right to own a gun," the ad's narrator says. "Santorum is also a favorite of the Tea Party for his efforts fighting corruption and taxpayer abuse in Washington."

The ad closes by telling Iowa conservatives, who have long been fractured in the Republican race, that Santorum is a candidate "we can all unite behind."

I don't which is more full of it - the Republican Clown Posse or the corporate media machine that fills the air with such contrived, meaningless chatter about the bad actors that form the posse. Fox News has been pushing Santorum hard, so you knew he would "surge" in Iowa. It's all a big joke. Obama will bludgeon Romney in November, and Fox will go back to hammering the re-elected president with impunity.

Have any of you conservatives been paying attention to that guy on Fox, Krauthammer? He's making predictions of doom and gloom, manifested as an Obama victory in 2012. He's lamenting the fact that no respectable Republicans are line to get the nomination. He even suggests that the entire GOTP field is incompetent, save one. MItt Romney, whom he says cannot be Obama.

With Santorum it's all about him. He is not going to keep going up. He will stay were he is at in the polls there in Iowa and then go down. That is what got Gingrich down. Its the "ME", It's the " I am the best " mentality that got him down, and it's were Santorum is heading.

Mr. Santorum is an embarrassment to US politics. All the troubles in the US and the world and he is touting "marriage and the right to own a gun."

You know that Republicans have lost their mind when they give serious consideration to Santorum. This is a guy who lost his Senate seat by 17 points in 2006. It was only five year ago. If Republicans are that desperate for an anti-Romney alternative, it is time for Republicans to give up and go home.

Abortion, God, guns and gays: This is all that matters to these conservatives. Never mind that what our country needs is jobs, and that all their economic policies are PROVEN FAILURES.

The rest of the world, especially our enemies, are laughing at us as they ascend and we decline, some of our voters actually considering an anti-science candidate who doesn't want to invest in our infrastructure and who thinks that all we have to do is "be right with God" to prosper.

    GOP = Fools!

"I don't which is more full of it – the Republican Clown Posse or the corporate media machine that fills the air with such contrived, meaningless chatter about the bad actors that form the posse."

The media knows that many voters (unfortunately) view this election as just another reality show, full of scandal, laughable characters, screechy woman and philandering men, all empty-headed yet filled with righteous, self-centered pride.

Wake up, folks! This is our COUNTRY we're talking about, our future. Do the real research (i.e., turn off Fox), use your heads and think about the fact that our country fairs better under Democratic administrations than Republicans ones, and that if President Obama hadn't been elected, we'd be in a Great Depression and invading Iran.

Iowa, please ignore these Republican idiots, they are the clowns of this century, and in USA! World is laughing at these Republican idiots on my internet. True, True, and true. Their motto is Obama should be one term president. He is doing the Best for this nation. 1. He signed Health Care, DTDA, Consumer Protection, Banks FDIC to 250K, 2, Killed Bin Laden, Mommar Gaddaffi, Saddam Hussain, Kim Jong IL, Etc, 3. Passed Fin. Reg. Reform., so this stock market is still intact.3. Brought Iraq War to End....4. Made dollar strong. 5. bringing lot of companies back to USA. Previously we used to ship computer jobs overseas, now, they are coming to USA for two year visa, and spending on our Soil, thus generating income on our soil...etc, Just vote for Obama and Direct Dem. ticket...God bless...

  14. The Greedy Old Pigs have declared class war on US!

Santorum's rise, like all the others, is due to one thing: The rightwing sheeple are being carefully herded down the slaughter chute Rove has crafted to ram the next extreme neocon puppet for the parasitic elites down their throats. Some of the sheeple, as they near the killing machines, sense that Romney is another GWB and that makes them scramble about in a panic. It's quite simple when you see this is all cleverly manipulated theater for the benefit of the elitist Greedy Old Pigs. And I feel sorry for the sheeple, because some of them have potential to wake up, which is what the squirming is all about.

Bob in Pa, glad you are doing fine. If you have three guns I guess all the fear mongering about President Obama taking your guns away was just empty rhetoric, right?

Can't have the Savior Saint of the Tea Party, Santo-Rum, in the White House. All of our liberties and freedoms that our forefathers fought so hard for would be wiped away especially with, God forbid, an all-Republican Congress!

I see that you are posting Only American People who Hate Republicans. It is so sad that Americans have so much hate for each other and that the Media CNN & Fox pit Americans against each other. It is true that with everyone there is a different belief but to be so hateful, it sounds like we are still at war in the North against the South. How can you say that you care for any one and will try to save someone who is in danger of their life, would you let go of them if you find out if they are Republican or Democrat? SAD

wow are there ANY Blacks or Latinos in Iowa? You sure never see any in these photos. I guess though diversity, since Cain got booted, isn't really important to the GOP. In fact you may not even see a minority member until South Carolina.
