Democrats send ghost from Romney's past

(CNN) - Democrats aren't missing a chance to take aim at their favorite target: Republican presidential frontrunner and former Bain Capital executive Mitt Romney.

Randy Johnson, a worker laid off when Bain bought American Pad and Paper Company, will arrive in Des Moines on Sunday to hold a press conference, according to the Democratic National Committee.

Johnson now works with United Steelworkers and comes to the state just two days before the Iowa caucuses, the nation's first Republican presidential nominating contest.

The DNC said that along with a press conference, Johnson will talk to reporters and travel throughout Iowa "to discuss Romney's decades long record of putting profits before people."

Bain Capital acquired American Pad and Paper in 1992 and laid off a number of the workers at Johnson's plant in Indiana. After a bitter strike, the company closed the plant in 1995.

Romney has defended his record as CEO at Bain throughout his second bid for the White House. During a recent interview with TIME Magazine, Romney pivoted the conversation toward President Barack Obama's jobs record.

Team Romney responded to the attacks on Sunday.

"President Obama and his cronies know that if they have to face Mitt Romney in the general election they are going to lose, which is why they continue their 'kill Romney' strategy. Seeing as President Obama is the greatest job-killing president in modern history, it's fitting. Next November, voters will hold President Obama accountable for his abysmal record no matter what distractions he tries to create," Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in a statement.

More than likely the Dems did not vette their "plant' as thoroughly as they should have and this will back fire on them again. Everytime this administration pulls together a group of individual to showcase some achievement, someone in the group has a shakey or poison past....not expecting this one to be any different.

Time will tell; their dirty, Chicargo politics will end up bitying them in the butt.. The good news, when POTUS loses the election, he'll David Axelrod to blame.

If you want to take down Romney with the Republicans, turn their attention to the MA health connector law giving us here in Massachusetts universal healthcare. The bill here was known as Rohemneycare because it was proposed by him. Funny how he was for universal healthcare before he was against it. Talk about flip flopper.

@ThinkAgain, thank you so much for clarifying the difference between the Obama economy and George W Bush Ecomony. No wander why we have not send George W Bush in the last three years with the exception of him coming from under the rock to sell his book. He know this crap is his fought, and he needs to come out and endorse President Obama for preventing another great depression. This crap is G W Fought, bottom line.

"Greatest Job Killing President in history" says team Romney? Hmm, when Obama took office we were losing 500,000 jobs a month (700,000 jobs lost in Bush's last month in office alone). We have now had 22 consecutive months of private sector job growth. Romney's economic talk by the way sounds a lot like Bush's. These guys don't have their facts right.

The Romney campaign is a house of straw that will surely burn. His campaign crew has their work cut out for them trying to make such a fraud seen credible. He is easy to expose. Newt did so in one statement as did Perry. He has shown he will wilt when his baseless claims are challenged and his distortions given scrutiny. The Republicans are getting just what they deserve with this guy.

Well I am never surprised at anything the Democrats pull these day's. I am sick of the Kool-Aid drinkers that keep blaming Bush for the mess this country is in. If your president is so great why is it he cannot turn one thing around for the better after three years in office? Do not try and spin it that things were worst because of Bush because the fact is Obama took the job because he said he could fix the economy. he has done nothing but make things worst. the only thing he does well is play tons of golf and go off to Hawaii every year on our dime. I would rather give Mitt a shot at being president and find out what he can do then give Obama four more years to make things even worst for us all.

Romney is in the leverage buy out business. Here is what I want to know. How many people were hired at these companies while under Romney control? How many people were fired at these companies while under Romney control? That's how we know whether Romney is a job creator or a job destroyer.

My fellow Democrats have become the Biggest Joke of 2011/2012. With so much to be done to try and bring this country back from the brink, they are stooping to the presidents hateful and divisive tactics.

What a crying shame. No wonder the Republicans are starting to feel more and more reassured.

Oh well. So much for the presidents lame promises of reuniting our country and improving life for the working class.

You are a fool if you think the GOP actually cares for you. They only care for you if you make millions and pay them campaign contributions. Do you think they care if you get sick, have no health insurance and die? Do you think they care if you are unemployed? NOPE!

    Facts you can't argue:

1.) 90% of the top 1% are Democrat

2.) The unemployment # is actually 11.4%. The fact people quit looking for work does not make them employed.

3.) Obama quote "If unemployment is still at 8% over above, I will be a 1 term president".

4.) I voted for President Obama.

5.) Actors make a living pretending. Your opinions from pretend land is not relevant.

6.) I would vote for ANYONE other than Obama.

@Keith in Austin. Romney trashed Romney, and a bunch of workers. Folks are just pointing out the truth. He has a knack for suppression. He's really quite good at it. Has people like you to protect him while he does it. I'm just glad someone is speaking up. I wish a number of them would. You ever notice WHERE Romney hangs out (rhetorical, not aimed at Keith)? No! Because he doesn't. He doesn't know or care about common people. Can't believe the "good" Christians have forgiven him for "being Mormon". GD!! Anything to win at any cost, Amen.

    @Keith in Austin

Here it comes again! A Republican Caucus and the DNC will have their poster boy traveling around the State trashing Romney. This election will be the dirtiest in American History folks. A President with a 1-Billion Dollar campaign war chest with NOTHING to run on other than smears, attacks, and blaming everyone else but himself!
Ever hear of "Joe the Plumber"? Ever hear of the "Swift Boat"? How about the "Birthers"? What about "Death Squads coming for Granny"? How about those of you who continually use the President's middle name to suggest Muslim ties? Ever see the name "Obammy"? How many Republicans have called the President a "socialist"? Have you ever heard him call one you a "fascist"? You're creating your own reality again. Grow up.

    Linda from Virginia,

The President's Sister Maya, her 2 daughters still live in Hawaii and he has a RIGHT to see his sibling and his children have a RIGHT to spend time with their Aunt and cousins.

The change in your pocket is what was left after Bush squandered a surpless and left Barack Obama a deficit...despite Dick "5 Deferments' Cheney stating, 'Reagan proved that deficits don't matter." "We won the mid-term elections. This (2nd round of tax cuts) is our due!"

Only in GOP Bizarro world does one translate Romney's job-outsourcing to job-creation. Sure, he created a lot of low-paying, no safety-regulation, slave-labor work for non-Americans. And the GOP likes to call those who disagree with policy as traitors while they sell out to non-Americans.

    Bizarro, Bizarro, Bizarro.

    @Terry, VA
Uhm, how many jobs was that you say?
Why, Perry himself told you in the debate what a poor job creator Romney has been and the rest of us knew already that his creation record is poor. He may have created 10,000, but that number is sub-par for what it should have been during his administration. HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT WORKERS. That's why CEOs used Bain and Romney. Their little wrecking crew can sleep at night, knowing they just increased profits while pointing their fingers at the lazy unemployed. He ain't in touch with you @Terry, VA. Do some research. You should hate him actually. Intellectualize.

@ Meandean. There is no way on Earth you voted for Obama the first time. Why?! Because when it comes to taxes, the President has not said anything different from what he said during his run for President. For the last 30 years, taxes has continued to decrease amoungst the super rich with the silly asumption that they are only the job creators. well 30 years later we know better. The biggest wealth distrubutor has been the GOP constanting allowing loop holes in taxes, to the point where major companies dont even pay a single dime in taxes per year. Remember GE? so please, dont lie to us about your right wing talking points with some joke that you voted for Obama.

Laying off workers is an immediate disqualifier for being president

No, but ranking 47th out of 50 in job creation while Romney was Governor might disqualify Willard

President Obama has done a great job stopping the massive job losses that were occurring when he took office (thanks to the GOP's economic policies of tax cuts for the rich and getting rid of regulations) and turning things around to small job gains. He did that with massive obstruction from the GOP, who were more interested in causing President Obama to fail than with helping the United States get out of a recession. We could be in a better position right now if President Obama would have been free to enact more of the policies he wanted to. President Obama comes from a poor background - he knows what it is like to have to worry about how to pay college tuition, what it is like to be paying student loans when you graduate, etc. Romney has never had to worry about these things and has no idea what it is really like for struggling middle class Americans right now. The entire GOP doesn't even care about the middle class. All of their policies are geared toward helping the rich on the premis that the wealth will "trickle down" when we all know by now that that is not what actually happens. President Obama is the ONLY choice for 2012. With the GOP's policies we will all be falling further and further behind while the ultra-wealthy become more and more rich and powerful.

How about we differentiate one (Romney) was taking advantage of a capitalistic system that allowed him to make money as a CEO by destroying jobs for the benefit of a personal bonus for him. This man that is coming forward is a RESULT of Mitt Romney's private work. The difference is the office of the PRESIDENT is not supposed to destroy to increase a corporations profitability.
