Governing without Congress? White House: Not quite

(CNN) – The White House Tuesday denied reports that President Obama will be taking a go-it-alone approach, governing without Congress.

"He'll pursue all tracks," White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters, "but it is not accurate to suggest that he doesn't want to engage with Congress and that he won't engage with Congress. In fact, he wants to continue to work with Congress."

Played correctly- this could be perfect politics. He's given congress 3 years to work with him and together and they have done nothing. Start by asking for their support, don't get – move to executive order and two things will happen- first his poll numbers will climb and two- it will get Congress to start acting.

Not without congress, but opposed by a congress willing to destroy the middle class to ensure that he is a one term president.

Welcome back Mr. President and Happy New Year!

As far as (Con)gress goes – they will never work with you only against you and by doing that they work against the American people. It is up to us to vote each one of these obstructionists out in 2012 and get the country back on track again.

Obama shoulda started doing this last year. What we wanted was a left wing progressive version of W and instead we got this guy who isn't insane at all trying to act sensibly in a room full of impatient and impetuous children. Go with the executive order

We have been without a Congress since January, 2009. Republicans have obstructed all progress to gain political points – the most unpatriotic action possible. Throw them out!

Time to get "FIRED UP, READY TO GO"!! This do nothing congress is not going to change. It's time to inform McConnell that the people of this country choose our president-he doesn't! We also need to vote out the teaparty supporting members of congress. I hope all voters who thought mid-term elections didn't matter have learned a very valuable lesson. You put these people in office-now get them out!!

Obama got everything he wanted in 2009 and 2010. Everything. No questions asked. No justification.
What we saw was a flurry of big, expensive, ineffective partisan legislation. Unemployment went up faster than debt and both were skyrocketing to heights previously unimagined.

The voters stepped up in 2010 and put a halt to that nonsense. Now Obama has to actually justify what he wants done. Guess what? He can't. He has no idea what he is doing.

Looks like Obama would prefer impeachment to re-election. Even HE knows he's a goner come November. I'm sure he's on the phone right now with his soulmates Fidel castro and Hugo Chavez to get some tips on how to pull off his little coup.

Check the numbers. You're wrong again. The fact remains that Obama stopped the bleeding and the numbers don't lie.

The numbers are impossible to hide from. When Obama was elected, unemployment was 6.5%. By the time he was innaugurated it had already increased to 8.5% ( Jan. 2009 ). By Jan. 2010 it had gone up to 10.6% and by Jan. 2011 it was still at 9.8%.

The Republicans took the majority in the House and now unemployment is back down to 8.5% where it was in Jan. 2009.

Which numbers were you thinking would help Obama in 2009 and 2010?

    >Rather the White House will be looking for opportunities to act without Congress, if necessary, for example, taking executive action to help middle-class Americans

Ohhhhh.... he's going to spread some of that Obama stash around town! Didn't they used to call this "walking around money" when they paid people more for their vote? ZYes, he sure has chamged Washington now hasn't he?!!

    >or working with the private sector on creating jobs.

You mean he's now going to work with all those evil profit making money grubbing one percenters??? TRAITOR!!! Actually quite funny when you consider how he has attacked and demonized private enterprise for 3 years. Should he call for my help I'll show him the tip of my shoe.

The President tried in every way to work with the Republican congress to restore the country after the disasterous 8 years of Bush. He was stopped at every turn, not because his ideas were bad, but simply because the R's wanted him to fail even if the counry fails. Mr. President - You will be relected in 2012 and, in your upcoming years in office, do what you know is right for the country using Presidental means and realize the R's will never work with you. You are a good and decent man who loves this country and tries to do the right thing. Go for it!!! Every Tea Party Republican should hang their heads in shame.
