Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) – House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said she is comfortable with President Barack Obama running for re-election on an anti-Congress platform.
During an interview broadcast Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," the former House speaker said the president is right to wage a race against the Republican majority in the House.

"I think that the president – and for the good of the country, forget Democrats, Republicans – for the good of the country, I think it's really important for the president to make the race that he is running against a do-nothing Congress," Pelosi told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.
Obama, frustrated with what he calls the inaction in Congress, has said he will act without Congressional approval when he can to pass his agenda. Following Republican threats to obstruct confirmations he put forth, Obama made four recess appointments Wednesday, including Richard Cordray as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
When asked if the president is throwing her and Democrats under the bus by bypassing the chamber ahead of the 2012 elections, Pelosi said: "We don't feel that way."
"Our races are about the House of Representatives, one district at a time. We think we're in good shape," Pelosi said. "We want the president to run the race that is important for the country, and this do-nothing Congress must be defeated."
The California representative has appeared in 2012 presidential news of late because of a 2008 ad about climate change in which she appeared with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich has called the ad the "dumbest thing I've done in the last four years." Pelosi said she did not regret the spot and pointed to ethics allegations leveled against Gingrich while he was speaker.
"He who has been fined $300,000 by the ethics committee, you'd think he'd consider that a big mistake," Pelosi said.
"Since you brought up my name in association with him as the dumbest thing he ever did, I think there's plenty of stiff competition for that honor, as far as his activities go," she added.
When asked if she ever met GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney, Pelosi said: "I don't think so. It wasn't memorable if I did."

Congress woman Nancy Pelosi (D) is the most despised ex-speaker of the house ever in U.S. history. Pelosi (D) and Harry Ried (D) outright own the two most expensive congesses (110th and 111th congressses) in world history when she was speaker of the house and Ried was and still is senate majority leader! So now president "down grade" (Obama) is going to run against Pelosi (D) and Harry Ried (D) and the Democrats in congress? ....it's sounding more and more desperate for our "spend thrift in chief" (Obama) and the Democrats as the 2012 election grows nearer ...LOL
they're all rich and dont care about the middle class or poor as long as they get reelected, time to get term limits and have them take a pay cut, they gave themself a pay raise without asking the voter if they should, they wk for us we voted them in we can vote them out if they want a pay raise we should vote, charge 50 cents at a 800 #, use it to pay down our deat
Obama got to blame somebody for his failures and want people to forget he had congress for two years. Just like the divider in chief to do so he can't run his records. Giving Reid and Nancy full control with Obama in the driver seat would be disastrous.
well, considering the source of this co cka mamie idea, i guess it should be no surprise. The man in the WH has diligently fomated class warfare, evaded all responsibility for failures over the past 3 yrs while claiming full credit for thingsaccomplished based on decisions made prior to his tenure. Heappears to be overlky sympathetic to middle eastern interests while insuoting and alienating trusted allies of the US. His proflagate spending sprees are bankrupting the country. He is a Teflon President and the sooner we evict him fromt he WH the better!
So let me get this straight? The former speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi (D) and Harry Ried (D) who is still the senate majority leader and owners of the 2 most expensive congresses (110th and 111th) ever are telling the most expensive president (Obama) ever to run against themselves! ...hilarious ...LOL
Nancy Pelosi did her job when she was the Speaker. Unlike Boehner who has no clue how to do anything. He's just Cantor's puppet. Thus a whole year wasted. Tea partiers out! Nancy Pelosi back in. Then we can get to work.
Anybody who thinks that the tea partiers and republicans aren't to blame for this is blind. I feel bad for you. It is so obvious that the GOP isn't looking out for you at all. They just want control of the country. When their policies fail they blame the dems so they can get reelected...to screw us again.
I totally agree with Nancy.... it is a do nothing congress in the house and it needs defeated.
The last great leader to oppose his own parliament was Julius Caesar- in the end, it was members of the Senate that killed him and plunged Rome into civil war.
The sad thing is that most of the Republicans that fight the president tooth and nail are from the west and southern regions of the US...not only are there socioeconomic fault lines being created in the US, but also regional ones as well- not only is it rich against poor, but the south and west against the Northeast- the same geopolitical mess that caused the American Civil War over a century ago.
pelosi who writes her speeches probly done when she was in hawai spending 10 thosan a day on a room boy the press shut that story down quick. people wake up the media is as much to blam as the stock market and the goverment. we were in a lot of trouble long before this last presedent. ever wonder why clinton stepped down from running she saw this coming all i can say is hang on you have not seen the problems that are coming next
Under her Speakership we didn't see none of the nonsense we see under Rep. Boehners. The agenda of the Republicans in Congress has been one of obstructionism. The economy has been steadily improving under the leadership of President Obama and the determination of us. Just think how much better things would be if Republican wouldn't of adopted the "No to Everything "policy of Sen. McConnell or abandoned it. The GOP is fractured because of the extremists Tea party members. Boehners Blunder shine a bright light on how disfunctional and without direction it is. The GOP will lose control of the House and seats in the Senate because of their obstructionist and their refusal to abandon it.
Obama said a long time ago that he was prepared to act without Congressional approval. He said he knows the right thing to do and the legislative process is just to slow to meet his needs. Obama has said that the President's powers should be expanded. His Czars have been carefully marked as appointees that will follow the script. The one saving grace in this whole matter is that Obama will have to run on his record and even the media can't keep this charade up much longer.
The GOP congressional leaders long ago stated in public that they would do everything they could to make Obama fail regardless of cost to the country. Obama has no choice but to work around them to get anything done.
On the front page of the very liberal USA Today, they've just stated that the national debt is officially reported by the CBO at $15.23 trillion as of 01-01-2012. Nancy Pelosi's 111th congress and Obama have given the beleaguered U.S. tax payers the most expesive government in the history of humanity! ...with people like Obama and Pelosi on the loose robbing the american people, who needs enemies! ...Obama will have to run against the Democrats and himself!
elgatoblanco; Things are that bad and the american people are hurting how cold can you be? ...who are you kidding?
Didn't Nancy Pelosi vote to de-fund closing GITMO...one of Obama's signature campaign promises? Guess Obama will be running against her as well.
The Dems and GOP are EQUALLY at fault here. I am so dissapointed in the current congress because the Dem controlled congress in session from 08-10 accomplished so much more.LOL. Obama is a lot of good things, but he is no leader. A good leader would lead our country, including congress compliant or not. A lot has to change in the next 9 months for me to vote for Obama again....and I like him in many ways. NOT enough to vote for him.
Now the Democrats are crying about Republicans being obstructive and the President being forced to make recess appointments because the Republicans have vowed to oppose the President's efforts.
When Bush was President, the exact reverse was true. Bush would not even get a hearing for his nomination, or an up-or-down vote.
Unfortunately, both parties are the culprits. Unless at least one of them decides to be larger than their self interest (it would be better if both were that way), there is little hope.
Ok Republicans, here's an easy one for your little brains. Your "team" ran last mid-term on jobs, jobs, jobs. How many "jobs" bills did they propose? 0 How many were blocked by Obama? 0 Oh wait, these are facts, in your world facts don't count!
Send Pelosi home. She and Reid tried to push a far left agenda 2007-2008 and it was soundly rejected by voters. Many past Presidents have not had ownership of both houses and still managed to accomplish things for the people. "Running against Congress", when he has only had opposition 1 out of his 3 years, is a sad excuse for a non-leader.
Republicans in Congress have made it quite clear they will Stonewall and Obstruct everything Obama does to try to make Cheap Political Theatre, even it it destroys the United States in the process.
Oh poo poo poo, poor little abused Obama. Congress won't go along with his radical agenda, so they are a do nothing congress? After having Obamacare rammed down their throats, I think congress is doing the right thing by no compromising their economic principles.
