He had a job in the private sector and created jobs, that makes him an enemy of Obama.

"Bill Daley made sure that Osama bin Laden was killed, despite the objections of Barack Obama. " guys really DO just make it up in your heads willy-nilly. How wonderfully delusional. Must be truly amazing living life as though everything's a saturday morning cartoon and reality can be ignored at whim.

Objectiveguy: What freakin drug were you smoking before writing your response? Dude, you are seriously dilusional and need help. There has never been any question who made the call to attack OBL.. even the general said he had never seen such a couragous call. The fact that you are a nobody and dislike that our Commander in Chief is doing a much better job then any republican could hope to... does not give you permission to make up outragous stories. Besides, you are making the other naysayers in this post look bad... they want to hate Daley as well... you need to catch up with the other haters.

I hope everyone knows that he had already chosen to leave in October, and this is just changing him leaving earlier.

If you were the president, what would any of you do that would make such a positive difference? Easy to throw stones. Obama's power, like other presidents, is severely limited by law and precedent. Given that there hasn't been a Congress so uniformly against a president in modern history (no president has endured unanimous votes against his proposals in the past 100+ years), Obama has achieved some major goals: health care, economy, terrorism. Not perfect but given that we are still a racist country, quite a success.

"Probably get a job in the finanacial industry"....huh? yeah okay....that's where he came from –he was a lawyer who served on JP Morgans executive board...

Clever crew here–".oh. we can't wait for Mitt!" Wait until you need social security, medicare, possible unemployment or maybe just some consumer protection....Nah, let's continue to let the banks run wild and the corporations cheat the country out of paying any taxes...Because, hey, look at Ireland–they're doing great!!!

Guess you missed the fact that we have created private sector jobs now 18 months in a row after Bush destroyed the economy and nearly left us in a Depression...yeah let's go with no banking regulation in the future!! Excellent idea!

Bill Daley was brought in as chief of staff to replace Emanuel, provide adult supervision, bring organization to the Whitehouse, and create a climate more friendly to the business community. Just about every book out there talks about how this WH is so business unfriendly and the disarray and dysfunction in the WH. Guess Daley is giving up and leaving because he is fed up and has had enough. Smart move on his part! His replacement is Jack Lew.Good luck, Jack!

nothing new or surprising. Every administration midway through first term as well as second term, people on key posts leave. Same happened durig Bush time.

This is odd. Chief of Staff is HUGE job. To give notice – in an election year – doesn't pass the sniff test. There's more to this than meets the eye.

"Bill Daley made sure that Osama bin Laden was killed, despite the objections of Barack Obama. Daley made it such that Obama had no choice but to authorize it, as it was all but a "done deal" by the time Obama even knew of the plan, and Daley told Obama he had no choice but to go along, or risk looking like he was soft on terrorism"

Where do you guys get this stuff?? Wow – Faux News is even worse than I thought! The President has the last word and certainly had a choice of authorization. Nonetheless, the killing of OBL happened on Obama's watch!!!!

This has been one of the most corrupt administrations in memory. It is scary to think how quickly Americas can lose their freedom and democracy when you have radicals that want to take down the country in charge. Even worse, having a congress that is so incompetent and complicit they don't care what happens as long as they get their insider deals. Our country is desperate for leaders with character, courage, and competence.

Why is this surprising anyone? Bill said he would only be there for the remaining of the current term, so he's cutting it short. He probably wants to return to his life before the "West Wing". This is not a sign of the administration "imploding", as a matter of fact, I believe we will see more strength coming out of the White House as the GOP field solidifies to a primary and secondary candidates. We need to get money out of the election process, otherwise it won't matter who wins the election, because the American people will lose regardless of the outcome.

brian in dc - Even more comical is that Obama has a budget director

Good point! Democrats haven't passed a budget in 3 years. So this guy has been sitting around playing Angry Birds and collecting a 6 figure paycheck for years, or more likely working on Obama's re-election campaign.

One thing is for sure, Obama is running out of Chicago thugs to appoint to his administration. He might have to tap into the corrupt union taody reserve if the resignations keep up this pace.

Daley probably has a post in mind that he is going for. After all Mayor Emannuel of Chicago worked in the Obama administration and left to run for mayor. He won by the way. In any case there will not be a shortage of people who want to work in President Obama's second administration.

reports actually are that President Obama is very good to work with. He listens to ideas and asks lots of questions. That may be a new concept to most of the dumb repos out there. The change was a smart idea to bring in new blood and give the repos one less target when this campaign heats up.

Remember when Rummy Rumsfeld talked about unknown knowns, known unknowns and unknown unknowns, and the right wingnuts thought he was a genius? That must qualify them to make light of some of the smartest people in the country who are still working for Obama.
