Palin endorses (Todd, that is)

(CNN) - Newt Gingrich announced Monday he received the backing of Todd Palin, husband of former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

At an early afternoon Rotary Club meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire, Gingrich said he just learned of the developments.

"About 20 minutes ago I got a very nice phone call from Todd Palin, Sarah's husband, and he indicated he was going to endorse me today," Gingrich said.

The 2012 GOP hopeful later sent out a message on his Twitter account, saying, "Honored to be endorsed by Todd Palin. President Obama has failed. We need a Bold Reagan Conservative in the WH."

Gingrich's message linked to an article on the website of ABC News, which first reported Todd Palin's endorsement.

In a statement released by Gingrich's campaign, Palin touted the candidate's leadership skills.

"Newt Gingrich is a true leader, which he has proven not only since the beginning of his campaign, but throughout his career," Palin wrote. "Just like Sarah, Newt has faced many successes and challenges. Despite his consultants leaving him last summer, Newt is still standing because of his ideas and his success in the debates – not by spending millions of dollars in campaign ads."

Todd Palin, often referred to as the "First Dude" by his wife when she was serving as Alaska's governor, has long served as one of Sarah Palin's closest political advisers.

Sarah Palin has yet to publicly endorse a candidate.

You know now that I think about it, I am for once going to give the Palin's some credit. I'm glad to see Todd endorsing someone he actually wants instead of ANYONE who can beat Obama. Score 1 for Todd Palin.

Why does CNN even consider this newsworthy. An Alaskan snowmobiler who thought his wife should be Vice President. Don't care about the Palins, Trump or anyone else like them. This election is a joke. Who is Joe the Plumber going to endorse?

This endorsement means alot from a guy with no career, no education, a DWI conviction, and who was part of a group that wanted Alaska to succeed.

This is nothing more than Sarah's desperate attempt to reset her 15-minutes-of-fame clock, again. When she finally "endorses" someone, it'll get her about 3 or 4 days attention. If Todd does this, it only calls attention to the fact that she hasn't endorsed anyone yet. Why would she, if she can get attention for another week, without saying anything. Now everyone gets hopped up about who Caribou Barbie will endorse, and buzzes about that for another little while. Good job, Todd. Now be a good boy and go back outside and, oh, I dunno...go kill something.

Who cares? This is a waste of space and I can't believe you would even report this! The Palins are not relevant and are desperately trying to get another reality show since nobody in that family has a real job.

Tell me again, why this man MATTERS??

What is his qualification or office that he has hold to make a difference in other people's lives??

I still keeps wondering, why the media gives these people the microphone to speak

Newt, you were cooked long time ago, when you lead the prosecution of then President Clinton for infidelity while you were doing the same exact thing. What do we call that?? The biggest HYPOCRITE they ever existed

By what measure is THIS news?! Exactly HOW is TODD Palin a factor in politics? Does this mean that Gingrich has the backing of Secessionists?

Hey this guy was almost the "Frist Dude"! Show some respect. Honestly the Palins are just another circus side show of the Republican party. Honestly where do they find these wingnuts? Snowmobiles is this guys only area of knowledge. Time for Todd to go away along with the rest of the Palin freak show.

Do not support candidates who will send us into the biggest war we will face in the past 60 years. Do not support going to war in Iran. A war with Iran will drive food and oil prices up so much it will absolutely cripple are failing economy. Innocent lives will be lost on a greater scale than in Iraq. It is a pointless war based on lies about Iran's nuclear ambitions, just as the reason for war against Iraq because of "WMD's", (which we supplied Saddam with in the 80's to go to war with Iran in the 80's). The WMD's were never found, Saddam got rid of them. Iran seeks nuclear energy, not nuclear warheads. Don't believe the propaganda. We need to support the one anti-war candidate who does not seek war with any nation, RON PAUL. Vote for peace. Another war will be the beginning of the largest conflict of the 21st century.
