Perry: Pre-abortion sonogram ruling a 'victory'

(CNN) – As Texas governor, Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry praised a federal appeals court panel for overturning a ruling on Tuesday that previously blocked a Texas law requiring that pregnant women get a sonogram before having an abortion.

"Today's ruling is a victory for all who stand in defense of life. Every life lost to abortion is a tragedy, and this important sonogram legislation ensures that every Texas woman seeking an abortion has all the facts about the life she is carrying, and understands the devastating impact of such a life-ending decision," Perry said in a statement.

I don't see how this is a victory. If it is a woman who was raped and would only hate the child, why should she be forced to see this? I don't think this is a cut and dry issue. I am not advocating that every woman should have one, but it should be an option as needed. I hope to see one day where it is safe, legal and unheard of because they almost never happen. If these people don't want women to have abortions, then they need to make sure that every woman knows how to use contraception (which includes easy access to it) and can defend themselves from those that would hurt and rape them.
