Laura Bush's presidential wish for Jeb

politicalmugshot

(CNN) - Christmas may be over, but a Jeb Bush presidential bid was apparently on the wish list for George and Laura Bush.

The former first lady told a Florida audience Wednesday that she and her husband, the former president, hoped her brother-in-law would decide to run for president this year, according to the Sarasota Herald Tribune.

"I wish he would," Laura Bush said when asked if Jeb, the former Florida governor, will run for president someday. "We wanted him to this time."

Despite public pleas, Bush declined to run for the Republican nomination in 2012. However, the son of former President George H.W. Bush did not rule out a run in the future.

While speaking as part of the Ringling College Library Association's annual town hall meeting series, Laura Bush pointed to his work on education as evidence he would make a "wonderful" president.

He’s got his own set of baggage and there is no way another Bush will get into office after the recent disaster. Sorry, Laura, back to Texas you go. Talk about tone deaf!

I could almost see Jeb Bush making a decent go of it on the strength of his ties to the Latino community; if I remember correctly, he's married to a Mexican lady and speaks fluent Spanish.

I can't imagine he'd get as far as the actual party nomination, though. It's going to take at least a generation to get the stink off the family name after George W.

OK, enough with the family dynasties running the government. No more Bush's, Clinton's, Obama's etc. Problem is that the process has become so toxic, real people, very capable people would never do it. Who amonst us could pass a political colonosopy? The leftists these days even openly attack the children of candidates. In some cases, handicapped children of candidates.

I think Laura is out of touch with the realities of the economic crisis her husband's administration caused. No doubt, her life and lifestyle kept humming right along as if nothing happened, except for a lot seemingly bad news on the "internets" and television. I pity the woman because she really doesn't seem to understand that "Bush" will be politically incorrect on the national stage for at least a generation.

I am sure Dubya was just being a good husband to his wife. He knows what he did, and if he doesn't then that is the simplest answer that I have heard to date to the question. "What on earth were they thinking?"

Sorry, Laura, but your husband has, like a vaccine, made it so no one by the name of "Bush" will ever infect the body politic as president for at least a generation.

Just an observation: What First Lady was totally apparent in doing next to nothing while her husband was in office? Laura frequently was there standing next to George W, smiling and saying and doing absolutely nothing! Now no one is saying that she had to do anything ... but most just do, at least considerably more than just take care of themselves.

After the first 2 "Bushes" and Both of their Failures, I highly doubt if Any more "Bushes" run. America will remember that forever. If they don't & another "Bush" slips in between the cracks, it will be the American People's fault. People needs to Know that the Republicans actually hate the working people, in this country. They are for theirselves. Always have been, always will be.

Presiident Jeb Bush that has a good sound. I for one would Kick in some bucks to see this happen. I am tired of the boobs that are currently running on the republican ticket. We need someone that actually knows how to get things done. Believe me the current contenders couldn't kick there way out of a wet paper sack.

Of course....let Jeb run....after all...he helped steal the 2000 election for his brother. Any family that would use Karl Rove as their henchmen have no conscience and no care for the common man.

Surely the people of this country are "smart" enough not to choose another Bush. The last "compassionate conservative" Bush almost completely killled this country...........while he spent almost 18 months of his eight years in office on VACATION........and any math person can tell you that when you have war you have to raise money not CUT money

Truth and Nothing But the Truth,
First, there is not another member of the Obama family that is in or seeking political office. Secondly, to discount a person because of who they are related to is a perfect example of shallow and lazy thinking. Do you want to be associated with all of your relatives? Do they want to be associated with you?

The LAST thing Americans want is another BUSH in any seat of power. That family destroyed our country enough already. The last one should be in jail for international war crimes and acts of treason committed by lying to Congress, the People, and the UN. He ran our debt up to where it is now and all Obama has been able to do is just make payments on it. Republicans are destroyers and the Bush family is a criminal enterprise.

The bush name should be toxic in America politics after the disaster GW left behind. But I wouldn't be surprised to see the tone-deaf republicans hoist him up – not surprising especially after they nominated willard romney – a modern day gordon gekko – as their candidate during the worst economic crisis in decades – in a country with outrageous income inequality.
