Why we let an Australian born citizen control our political discourse all these years is beyond my comprehension. And why he's still allowed to operate as a news source, when Fox is nothing but a propaganda mouthpiece for the extreme right, goes further beyond still.

This sounds a lot like the old Napster/Music business fight. Copyrighted content being distributed in violation of law. Google or other search engines do what Napster did. Why protect music and not video from piracy???

Why does a foreigner own such a large portion of the US media? And why doesn't anyone have a problem with this?

This is complete different. Napster was the web site illegally distributing copywritten materials. Google is not, but would be held responsible if you use their site to find such materials and made it available to you. I think the rationale is that Google would be aiding and abetting the original crime, piracy.

Why does China own such a large portion of our entire country? And why do we continue to give them more?

Annie, Atlanta... I totally agree with you.... also Murdoch has a nerve complaining about privacy when he runs his businesses by tapping people's phones...

I'm just venturing a guess Annie but I'd say it has something to do with the same reason that Citizens United got through the Supreme Court: money talking.
Murdoch and I both are naturalized citizens, but I sincerely doubt that he took the same oath of allegiance to this country that I did as he seems hellbent on destroying it by using his various news outlets to propagate and disseminate spin, lies, and misinformation.

Simple. The Bush administration set us on the path of debt addiction to China, and we have been there ever since.

How does he "control our political discourse"??? Total lunacy! And why can't conservatives have a voice? I would like to shutdown MSNBC and all the other liberal news outlets, but that would leave us with nothing else but Fox News!

Let's face it, the leftists hate Fox News and Murdoch BECAUSE THEY CAN'T CONTROL IT and absolutely HATE that it has been so successful. A VERY needed counter weight to all the BS the liberal LSM spews on a daily basis.

Again, leftists just LOVE to shut down free speech and ideas they don't agree with. You are all VERY real dangers to freedom in the USA and everywhere around the world. Your ideal model seems to be that of North Korea!

But I thought Obama was hired to fix the woes of the world... stop the oceans from rising... and all of the rest of the hopey-changey horse pucky you swallowed with a healthy glass of kool aid? At some point, Obama (and his delusional supporters) are going to have to own up to the fact that the economy is HIS. The Obama strategy seems to continue to delay that ownership until after the election, huh?

Those are the promised lies promoted by the right wing. Most of our worst economic woes became apparent near the very end of the 2008 campaigns, and after the elections. People talk about broken promises all the time, but are as stumped as a tree trunk when it comes to naming the broken promises.

The only people in denial are Republicans, who deny having anything at all to do with the huge annual deficits that we have.

Although Rupert Murdoch is Australian born citizen he does know whats best for Americia. There are some very smart people in the GOP who know this.

While I'm sure there are many, the first 2 that come to mind are GITMO and his promie to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term.

Our economy is globalized; it is no longer rich Americans who control our politics (which was bad enough); it is now rich Americans, Brits, Australians, Saudis, Indians, Chinese, etc. The global economic elite, if you will.

Murdoch loves to manipulate the political scene becuz it benefits his business... the right wing of US, UK and Australia politics believe in free market and little or NO regulation on corporations.... he can wire tap and steal from others without anyone regulating what he does....

Interesting... I think YOU disseminate spin, lies, and misinformation. So you wouldn't mind at all if I shut YOU down right?

Amazing how the leftists always want to be to determiners of what is right and wrong according to their beliefs. Leftists are a danger to free societies everywhere. Might I suggest you relocate to Cuba, China or North Korea to experience what you advocate first hand???

He at least tried to close Gitmo, but was stopped in Congress. I do not recall a promise to "cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term." If he made such a promise, he probably made it early in 2008, before the new world reality of the financial crash and TARP came to pass.

Fair... let's face facts. Obama, the Democrats and the leftiists will NEVER accept responsibilty for ANYTHING. They controlled the House from 2006-2010 and the Senate from 2006-2012 and the Whitehouse from 2008-2012. Control of ALL goverment for TWO YEARS and two-thirds of the government for FOUR YEARS. Yet everything is a disaster and it is somebody else fault. Just like little children that break the window, it is never them but those other kids. The American people know better!!! We aren't falling for any more Obama, Reid and Pelosi lies. Didn't work in 2012 and won't work in 2012.

  22. The Real Tom Paine

Truth, based upon your logic, the GOP is responsible for the collapse, since they controlled Congress for 12 years and the White house for 8 years, with combined control for 6 years. Are you willing to assume responsibility for anything they did wrong, or do you just see things through the goggles and blinkers Uncle Rupert provides for you and the intellectual babyfood you dutifully swallow?
